it's a pity little lippy never did win a premiership medal with the crows.
wot makes me admire this bloke even more was his ability to combine rigourous and demanding medical studies with a career in top flight football.
he had a great 96 season and it;s a shame he missed out in 97. by 98 the writing was well and truly on the wall.
and having come across him at work, he comes across as a good sorta bloke, freindly, level-headed, and able to articulate a grammatically correct sentence (unlike a lotta port boofheads).

i should've guessed.
see, matty connell was an ordinary player who not only won a gold jacket, but 2 bloody prem. medals. i remember how blighty used to dig into him and his ball burning play.

i think if you play a certian number of games, you should also get a prem medal if your team wins but you dun play in the GF.
mods and lippy were stiff to miss out.

yes Matty was a fantastic contributer early on.......if you go back and look at the 1992 and 1993 "Best Of" tapes, Matty was heavily involved and IMO apart from Macca - our best crumber in our 15 year history.
