Dallas are playing some incredible basketball at the moment. Nowitzki has stepped it up another level and must be in the top 5 in the League at the moment.

I can hardly wait for the telecast of Saturdays game v. Boston at Boston. Then the game v. Nets in New Jersey. I wouldn't be surprised if the streak is still going.

Here is their schedule
Wednesday @Cleveland
Friday @ Boston
Saturday @ New Jersey
Tuesday LA Fakers
Thursday Houston

I think Houston will end the streak, they have always surprised us. What do you guys think?

There streak could end in New Jersey. The Nets are tough to beat when your at home but this is an away game for the Mavs so it could be tough. But if it doesnt end there, the Lake Show may end it as Shaq may be back by then...well he is expected back anyday now.

Someone tell me, how the **** do you defend Nowtizki! If you can stop him from putting it on the floor and taking it to the rack, he won't mind because he'll just shoot it right over the top of you at a superb clip. Unstoppable at the moment.

To stop Nowitzki, you need to:
1. Cut off the supply. Nash is so important, you need to double team Nash at half court. Once that is done Dirk can tend to get a little lost in the transition.

2. Make him play defence. The Mavs love blowing sides away with offence. Their D has improved dramatically this year, however, Dirk seems to save his energy for offensive setups.

The key used to be not to let him get baskets early, however he has blown that away. Went 0 for 7 from the fiels against Cleveland in the first half, but came up with some big shots in the 2nd half and 11/11 from the foul line.

The flaw in that theory is that if they double team Nash, they just let Michael Finley carry the ball.

He is quite capable of finding the open man, driving hard, and, unlike Nash, he can rise above almost anyone.

9-0 now and got handed a gift against New Jersey today with K-Mart recieveing a broken nose. Doubtful he will play. So they could go 10-0.

Nowitski is awesome...the most versatile 7 footer you will ever see. Oh and give Popeye some minutes...I think Najera is pretty useless.

Dallas are incredible. I still rate them behind the Kings though.
Nowitzki and Finley are playing some great ball, and when Van Axel returns from injury they will yet again become a stronger force. I am looking at them only losing 15-18 games in the regular season.

There's usually one team who always starts off in electric form though. Take for instance the 76ers in 2000/2001. And The Atlanta Hawks in 97/98. They will be similar to Philly in the 2001 season. They won't make the final though. I reckon they might bow out to the Kings in the Western finals.

Nash is more creative in this position. Having Finley take the ball, we lose little, but in terms of stopping Dirk, we lose a bit.

Najera's hustle is priceless. I would have him over popeye anyday. Popeye is still injured with back spasms.

How much is Jefferson sucking lately?

Obviously Najera's amazing defensive hustle doesn't show up in the box scores.

How do you see more games than me? Im pretty sure we are all watching the same games...In the Dallas victory over Boston Najera was pretty awful. Had a couple of really bad plays which made him look a little silly.

I havent seen Dallas this season apart from that game because I only see what Foxtel offers.

P&P strikes again with his .... well let's just go with drivel.

Watched the game and was surprised to notice so many empty seats. Nets V Dallas. Two of the main contenders. All stars on both sides. Net`s fans...hang your heads in shame.

Lucky bastard...you must get heaps more games than we do....was absolutely nothing on on sunday...not even sportscenter.

On the Mavericks....as someone else said, there is always one team that starts out really hot. I think the Mavs are the real deal though and will win the Midwest but at the end of the day the Kings and Lakers are still the teams to beat.

Right, so you can judge that Najera is "pretty useless" based on 32 minutes play?

Absolutely ludicrous and totally ill-informed.

I've only seen Paul Pierce play once this year, he shot 4-20 from the field, committed a heap of turnovers and just generally played awfully. Does that mean he is "pretty useless"?

BTW In those 32 minutes, Eduardo Najera scored 8 points, with 8 boards, whilst committing 0 turnovers.

Why do you make such sweeping statements based on next to nothing?

Not taking sides here, but there was no amazing defensive intensity in the Mavs v Celts game, let alone any defensive intensity whatsoever. Antoine Walker holding onto Dirk Nowitzki as he gets screened does not contistute defensive intensity.

Likewise, in Hornets/Pistons, Ben Wallace was nowhere near impressive, not boxing out, nor looking anywhere interested. I have an inkling that the defense played in the NBA is highly overrated by certain scribes, and we certainly have seen little of it in the games telecast in Australia thus far.

P&P, perhaps the internet and PBT opinions offered to us re: defense are inaccurate... just a thought.

Guey, the defence in yesterday`s game (NJ Vs Mavs) was fantastic. Very physical amongst the big guys and some great hustling from the guards. However, I did see Bradley blow by Mutombo for a layup.

Shaq will return for the Chicago game on the 22nd. Hopefully.
