There is a very interesting thread on the main board, showing how almost all of the top ruckmen were rookies. A possible explanation being that ruckmen who dominate juniors do it just because they grew so quickly, not because they are extremely skillful. Hopefully that's not the case with big Max though.

He'll have to be mobile around the ground to get a game though, and even then he has Stefan to knock off.

the thing with gawn is that even for an afl ruckman he will be a giant, and he is doing pretty well as a vfl option so far this season

Just asked Matt Burgan about Max's prospects this year...

He's a ripper. Long-term looms as a very important player. Not sure if he'll play this year, remembering he missed much of last year with a knee injury. So he needs time to get continuity in his game. A very funny young fella as well. Matt.
