Think it's still both calf and rehab for knee to be completed. . Not so much the description of the injury concerns me, but the timeframe. "We're confident he'll be back out in the front half of the season". They were confident he'd be back for opening round. Hmmmmm.......

IIRC he himself was the one pushing for rnd0. The more realistic option was round 2. Then they announced the 2-week calf and pushed it back to round 4 citing a delay in knee rehab (I assume this is re-strengthening the knee but couldn’t be done bc of the calf?)

Don’t remember every detail so could be wrong

Yes but Ross said on a radio station something along the lines of “he’d done the calf again so the timeline was round 4”

I assume that implies that the first calf was not revealed until Ross did AFTER the second occurrence which was what they’d reported as round 4

The reason I assume it’s TBC is bc Ross said they don’t know whether to bring him back through VFL or not in addition to the outrage an extension of a week or so would cause

Yep he was touch and go for round one around this time last year. But in reality at no point has he ever been anywhere near full training because his body keeps on breaking down.

I have discounted him from the get go. If we see him we see him. Just not bothering to be triggered by it.

I do think he’ll return but not going to care until it actually happens.

It didn’t need to happen. He would still be under contract for this year without it.

Complete disaster. At this point I’d rather the club pay him off and let him go.

I don’t think anyone is outraged at this point, more amused.

And fwiw I’ve said numerous times he should just be a TBC and they should stop giving timelines, it’s one thing to say “he’s had a setback after the knee surgery and we’re going to monitor it, no timeline because it’s tricky” and deal with whatever repercussions there are from that, it’s another entirely to keep giving timeframes and then moving them.

I don’t believe a single thing they tell us about Max anymore, they’re either lying or incompetent.

Isn't most of it front ended anyway? Hasn't seemed to impact our ability to pay players.

Front ending his contract and then paying it out would seem pretty dumb.

I reckon we just need to calm the farm on Max. It's frustrating but he's 25, his career is (hopefully) far from over.

They need to just be honest. The most information we've gotten, is when a slightly drunk Ross Lyon was on Caro's podcast in late December last year. They've been dishonest about the timeframes for well over 18 months, it makes no sense to keep lying about it, and trying to keep secrets.

Round 4 was never going to happen.

To me that will be when he starts his training block. Probably ideally a 4 week mini preseason after that. Being a stand and deliver forward he might be able to knock a week off depending on how much fitness stuff he's able to do in between.
