Max Payne 2

Can anyone help me with a MAX PAYNE 2 issue ??

In the 2nd or 3rd level (cannot recall exactly because I got the **********s with it and haven't played it for a while) Max starts in his flat with a sniper trying to kill him ..... I get out of his room etc etc and kill bad guys etc etc BUT .....

HOW DO I GET OUT OF THE BUILDING ????? I can't get down the elevator and none of the doors open (except to pick up the shotty off granny) and the only opening is a window which Max tend to jump out of and die when he hits the bottom !!

It is driving me spare, HELP !!

There's a ledge outside that window, from memory (but I finished it six months ago, so I'm a bit rusty).
Be very careful when getting out of the window - it's reasonably easy to misstep and fall to a tragic death.
Walk along the edge, and into the next window that's open.
