Having big probs with the bit where all the club/restaraunt thing is on fire, I run straight through the double door, then through the kitchen into the little room with the shelves, go out the door on the right hand corner & then do a right & then left through the hallway into a big room & that's where I keep getting frazzed every time & it's really p1ssing me off because it takes ages to start again with all the comic strip stuff every time.

So if anyone can help please do, because I've entered spitting the dummy territory.

I had to use the invincibility option.

Thanks for the help everyone, I must admit I want to do it without cheating but I did use another walkthrough & still found the big Hall thing as clear as mud when I got there.

I've had a look at your link RzrBlade & hopefully it will do the trick but it looks a lot clearer there than it does in reality with all the flames.

I did find that if you pause the game it's a bit clearer for having a look around.

Anyway I'll give it a go later on today.

Still haven't totally ruled out cheating though.

It isn't that hard really. Once you figure out the surroundings, then you just run like hell outta there and down too the sewer below were there is quite a few baddies waiting for you (off memory).

The fire is a distraction thats for sure, but once you figure out the way you gotta run it will become a lot easier.

Got frazzed agin everytime I tried yesterday so I was wondering if you could kinda talk me through it in your own words, both the walkthroughs bascially say head right & one says jump over a table, but whenever I do that I frazzle, on the one you recommened it looks like you walk behind a sofa but I'm not sure where that is.

So if you could help I'd appreciate it becasue I don't want to have to cheat but I'm being driven crazy by it, even worse than that bloody dream sequence thing(how crap was that?).

Well I haven't got Max Payne on my computer anymore so I can't tell you step-by-step sorry (usually after I finish games I uninstall them to save hard-drive space, along with a few re-formats of the hard drive here and there).

Maybe just keep plugging away at until you get it? I find you get more satisfaction that way than using cheats...but if worst comes to worst you could always....

Oh and lol, I'm assuming your talking about the prelogue were you have max's wife always screaming at you his name and the baby crying...yes that is very annoying!

To all those that offered help on this thread I must confess to my eternal shame that I used the invincability cheat to get through the fire, I was none too happy though to find another one of those drugged sequences a bit later & have to walk along another trail of blood, I found it frustrating & thoroughly unenjoyable & couldn't help thinking that the programmers were laughing at us by putting that in.

Anyway I've completed the game now & I pretty much enjoyed the mindless shooting up of the bad guys, it was hardly a revolutionary game though, anyway I was just wondering is it worth playing through it again on the other levels(hard boiled ect) is there anything new or intersting? & secondly is Max Payne 2 any better? If it's just more of the same I'd probably give it a miss but if it takes things on a bit then I could be tempted.

cheers

Good to see you finished, even with a little help ;)

On the topic of Max Payne 2. It is a MAD game, only problem being it is too short. I think the developers got slack at adding some depth into the storyline. But from the storyline that is there, the gameplay is VERY good (you can tell i'm a max payne fan).

So I recommend you try it out as it is good, but just dont pay for it - borrow it from Blockbuster or get it by other means etc.

I too have a question about Max Payne. How do you finish it? I get to the Remedy symbol & then what?

I haven't played it in ages but I might as well finish it off.

If you remind what the remedy symbol is I might be able to help, my memory of things is more physical than by name, so you might have to be a bit graphical.

Actually I've just thought RzrBlade has given the link for a walkthrough on this thread, I used it myelf it seemed pretty clear so yo could maybe give that a go.

If this helps for the bit right at the end on top of the building make sure you've got some sniper ammo cos you have to shoot the metal cables that hold the tower up.

I always found them very hard to shoot, but used the crowbar on one of em to good effect.

I'm talking about the big R symbol with the Red sensor lines around it, what do you do in that room? I touched, shot & blew up everything in the damn room!

I agree with you on the blood trail sequences, to quote Johnny Rotten "This is no fun at all"! The first one is easy, just jump hard left at the first corner, it eliminates a lot of the hassle. The 2nd one is tougher.

Had it for ages & it didn't get me in & then I went sick on it for a few months.
