Maybe Simmo is playing?

Hope you're right but I doubt it. Also don't see the point in risking him. I'd rather be 0-3 and maybe even 0-5 than have Simmo re-injure himself and miss the second half of the year.

Injury news today could just be a decoy?

Just a thought.

I spoke to him at training on good friday... he said he will play this week. H elooked alright on the track, Rawlings and david king were giving him a small fitness test at the end of training. All looking good and i reckon he will play:thumbsu:

Hope it is true and I hate the way this club rules out guys at the start of the week, ruling guys out on Mondays and Tuesdays has knobs on it. Give the opposition nothing to go on ever!! Anyone should be given to game day until being omitted from the squad.

Completed full training on tuesday and looked good to me. Only issue i guess would be match fitness. BUt blow it lets get a ruck man out there to give us a chance i reckon. Hope he plays but Terry wasnt confident... lets hope it's a decoy!

If he's completed full training I think he's important enough to play even if its only for 15 minutes a quarter. We aren't in a position to bring him back through Coburg to get some match fitness.

Greg Miller on 927 saying that Wallace feels it is better to get him fitness through Coburg for at least a week given he has missed so much football.

what a ****ing crock of ****. if he is for real about bringing him through the ressies, he is as stupid as he looks. if this happens it will be the first time i actually agree with my old man that wallace is not the right person to take our club through to the future.

**** i am already angry at that. miller better be playing mind games. surely simmonds sitting in the square is better than nothing. ****

100% agree with you. TW and GM must be pretty confident we can win this match without him but if we don't they will look blo*dy foolish.

10 minutes of Simmonds rucking a quater would see us get more clearences and hitouts then 20 minutes of P and P (polak & pattison). And then if he could spend 5 minutes up foward on top of that he may help us kick a winning score. Simmonds is more important then Brown this week IMO!

I think Simmonds is more important than Brown full stop, because we have other players who can kick goals, but we dont have any other player who can ruck.

Does anybody know if the boys will be training tomorrow or friday morning (light run?)

OMG, Troy Simmonds should NEVER play for Coburg ever!!! I'm sure you would see Dean Cox,Lade and guys like Sandilands playing ressies football. What a joke.

Even if they've missed 3 months of footy with a broken ankle?

Well how long did Cox miss with a broken collerbone last year 8-10 weeks was it? did he play in the WAFL...NO!!!

Your best players should never play ressie football unless it's returning from a knee reco or a big injury like that,or for breaking team rules.

If he can run, jump, twist and kick with no pain he is right to go for the Tigers on Friday night. Otherwise he does not play at all.

Even though the VFL is not as full on or quick as AFL level I don't get the point to him playing in the ressies.

Scenario 1: Simmonds plays for Coburg gets a game into him; comes into the seniors Round 4: So that means he gets some game time under his belt but the seniors side gets belted in the ruck again and players are out of position again.

Scenario 2: Simmonds straight into the side gets some game time into him plays round 4 regardless with game time under his belt. Richmond get belted in the ruck because he is not match fit but players get to play in position.

If we had a suitalbe back up ruckman at the go for this round I could see the point to him coming through the Reserves but not at this point in time with the list the way it is.

Plus you would rather have Simmonds playing on a maintained drought free ground that some suburban ground that resembles the gobbie desert.

I can understand the argument that he should regain fitness in the seniors initially playing limited minutes and gradually building up. But I think also the injuries to Knobel and Hall might be impacting the decision and causing us to be very cautious with his recovery.
