McAfee removing files without an option

I have had McAfee preloaded on my computer as I got it for free but lately it has been really frustrating me by deleting files it interprets as a trojan virus.

In particular it won't let me have any keygen's unpacked from a .rar file it just deletes them without an option to leave it alone. I know for sure that this file is not a trojan.

It doesn't seem very easy to disable this feature temporarily so is my only choice to delete it altogether and download a less controlling virus package?

McAfee has got to be one of the biggest resource hogs out there.

Just use avast or avg

McAfee is the Ford Edsel of Anti-Virus/Firewall software.

Norton is the Leyland P76.

AVG or ZoneAlarm are both your Falcon/Commodore type and do everything you want well and without any fuss.

Don't ask "what is the Lamborghini of Anti-Virus/Firewall software" because you can't afford it.

I ended up deleting it and getting Avast which is alot less intrusive and has the option of disabling it if something gets in your way.

McAfee is evil. It treats the user like a baby, and assumes you're not running a PC to play games. I hate it with a passion.

I ended up deleting it and getting Avast which is alot less intrusive and has the option of disabling it if something gets in your way.

It scans P2P and msn type messenger programs as well, nice product which has the benefit of being free.

you arnt running norton internet security 2009 its an awesome package and you dont even notice it running. smallest footprint around.

mcaffee has always been crap.

i take zonealarm over avg, and is the lambourghini " kaspersky" by any chance.

avg scans take forever

pretty much, pc authority choice,

i get all of them for free at work (perks of selling it) and i am now running norton on both pc and laptop quite happily. i did install most of the other programs and went back to avg, before i got the free norton, very quick scans. and continual updates

zonealarm and kaspersky are brilliant, but you dont even know norton is running
