Fall Out Boy

Denver have just traded Antonio McDyess and pick 25 in the draft to the Knicks for Marcus Camby, Mark Jackson and pick 7 (which was used on Brazilian Nene Hilario).

BANG!! The Nuggets suddenly become a playoff team.

Hilario will come straight in the play the 5, Camby will play the 4 with Mark Jackson helping out at the point.

Excellent deal for the Nuggets.

nuggets a playoff team after THAT ?????
you have got to be kidding
the knicks on the other hand ... if mcdyess can stay healthy and play as good as we know he can that could mean at least 2nd round for them ... and possibly further with some more tinkering

Every broadcastor i've heard has also said that this is a huge win for the Nuggets.

They've filled three positions whilst offloading a player who never gets on the court.

A GREAT DEAL

The trade was just announced at the draft (held in NY) and was met with chants of "bull$hit bull$hit".

The crowd are going crazy, they are booing the house down.

The NY people think they've been stiffed big time.

Also remember that Antonio McDyess is a free agent next season.

i slightly think the deal favoured the nuggets ... but to say they are gonna be a playoff team because of it is crazy
the knicks fans chanting ... well at least now i think they have a chance at a winning season
i think mcdyess is awesome, he'll be back at his best next season ... maybe im bias towards him cause i got his shoes from the gold medal game at the Olympics ... yes im bragging :-P

What's Camby's playing status if you are calling McDyess someone who never gets on court?

My initial thought was that the deal wasn't one sided (as being quoted here). McDyess was an All-Star and hasn't turned 30 yet (handy player to have). It’s good deal for Denver when considering that McDyess would have left for nothing if Denver didn’t trade him. The Knicks were awful last year and needed to do something.

This makes the Nuggets a playoff team - Do me a favour.

Jackson - old and fading.

Camby - I think I better lie down now.

The onluy way the Knicks lost out was not keeping a potential defnsive stud in Hilario. If they'd managed that, and still been able to swing the Williams deal, they'd have been nicely set.

LOL P&P....i doubt this trade will turn Denver into a playoff team. However it was a win for the club. Jackson is still a quality point guard, Hilario looks the goods and will either come off the bench or start at the 5 spot and Camby is an awesome baller when he is fit. Thats the problem with Camby though....he is always injured. Has played i think 5 seasons in the NBA and has never played more that 64 games in one season. Played only 20 or so last season.

Then again McDyess hardly played last year and has injury worries too, however his injury past is of better value, he had only missed 18 games total before the season ending injury last year. So maybe he will recover. If he does i still dont see the Knicks being a force though....

Probably a good trade for both teams as the Knicks needed to do something and are certainly not finished with Sprewell more than likely to go and Denver picked up two young tall players in Camby and Hilario and a seasoned vet in Jackson.

the knicks might be trading for van exel which could be suicide or it could be a blessing
van exel, spree, houston, mcdyess ... good 4 but they will have no depth cause the rumour for van exel is giving away kurt thomas and someone else

I think on salaries Van Exel and Thomas works straight up.

If the Knicks give Thomas plus something they are fools. (OK, we know they are fools).

I thought this might have gone down anyway. New York might still have been able to do Camby, Jackson and a little more baggage if needed for McDyess and, ideally Williams (McDyess would have been gone from Denver next year anyway, they might as well have got something - he could well say in New York.

If this had gone down the Knicks would now have Van Exel, Houston, Sprewell and McDyess + cannon fodder centre starting with a good young point and good young PF learning the game. The starters wouldn't have enough basketballs to go round so they'd be a likely lottery contender again next season - and if it is fixed they'd get a high pick. They could then bump Sprewell (or even better Houston and his salary that could save WorldCom) and rebuild with a talented and better balanced team.

The benefits of Thomas for Dallas are obvious.

The Thomas - Van Exel deal is certainly on the table...but geez, Spree, Houston and Van Exel on the same team? Ego's would get in the way and would only frustrate the whole team, ending in another lottery.

Thomas raised his value untold amounts last season with his fantastic play so i think they could do better than Van Exel. Why not package Sprewell and Thomas together and get a big blockbuster trade going, would be a problem matching salaries though.

Have to agree with the first part jod. Dallas would be exciting though. It would be a great trade for them.

NY shouldn't trade Thomas. He was the one player who stood up, showed some leadership and improved his game. Doubly so after trading Camby. I would look at shipping either Spree or Houston PROVIDING the right trade came along.

They will never move Houston...his contract is just too big and his talent is just too small.

So Spree it is...If they could get a competitive center or a decent point guard, they should go for it. I don't like Spree and Houston in the same team. They could build a team around Houston, McDyess and Thomas.

But then again, I'm not a NY fan, so perhaps they should trade for Van Exel. ;)

ahhh... i wish my team, golden state would welcome spree back with open arms... ~~~ (brian winters isnt as choke-able as pj carlesimo :P)

wouldnt the knicks kill for a standout center like adonal foyle, or erick dampier ?! :P .. or maybe a danny fortson...

Fortson is talented, one of the best rebounders in the NBA at present but he isnt big enough to play the 5 spot. The other 2 are obviously taking the ****...

Why would you want Spree back anyway? I think he is overpaid, sure he can score and dunk but cant do much else, has never being an all round player and doesnt take the big shots.

yes... but i'd rather have jamison be the fixture at the 4 spot...
and return to the form that made us think we didnt get that badly ripped off with the vc trade.. hehe..

hmmm... foyal, jamison, dunleavy, richardson, arenas...
still pretty weak... us long suffering gsw fans might have another long season...

maybe not such a bad thing...

tank this year..
lebron the next... :P

But if you lose Fortson, you suddenly become a very weak rebounding team. Then again i do see your dilemma with Fortson not big enough to play centre and Jamieson and Dunleavy obviously playing the forward spots. I see the Warriors didnt bother with Hughes and an extension...leaving him unrestricted. He will definitely be gone before the season starts...not a bad thing for the Warriors though.

Nuggets will win just over 10 games next year.

Tsika and Nene are no way near ready to start. In fact, Tsiakistvilli averaged like 13 mpg for his italian team.

However once the 7'0 ex ballerina dancer learns some NBA ball, beware of the Nuggets.

The Nuggets will find a way to maintain their ....reputation.....

lol Coxon.

Dont worry, your team will look good next year.

Welsch - Can he actually play the point?
J-Rich
Dunleavy Sooky
Overpaideson
Foyle?? lol

Gilbert Arenas is a good player, and J-Rich will light up your back court for years to come, till he gets traded for some hack ;)
