Hey guys, I am not sure if there is an existing thread to put this under so I just created a new one.

I am going to be in Melbourne on the 19th of July and I plan on heading to the MCG to watch our boys take on the Demons.

This will be my first trip to the G and I would like to seat myself alongside my fellow Lions fans. Problem is, I have no clue as to where to buy a ticket that would get me to the correct place. Does anyone know which sections the Lions fans normally sit in at the G?

Also, any helpful hints for a first timer at the G would also be appreciated :)

Hi.

Hope you don't mind me posting on your board.

I have been to the MCG a numbers of times to see the pies play. Firstly, I recommend contacting your club to see if you can get seats with lions supporters. I reckon the game will get 20,000 people so there will be plenty of general admission areas to sit. If you use this site:

http://www.mcg.org.au/Events/Upcoming Events.aspx

You can use this site to see the general admission areas and see which end is the Lions cheersquad end. I would not buy a reserved seat unless you want to sit on level 2. General admission tickets are $25 for an adult. You can buy these at the gate.

If you're catching a train their, the stations closest to the ground are jolimont and Richmond.

Feel free to ask any other questions.

At the MCG most Lions fans sit down the bottom of the Olympic Stand (which is the one at the CBD end), behind the goals, which is where our cheersquad will be.

It is just general admission, so you can just by those tickets on the day - it won't be a huge crowd (25k?). Of course, there are better places to view the football at the G, but it is a good cheap place to sit with other Lions fans.

Alternatively you can contact the Club as they usually also sell Lions section reserved seats - although you usually have to be a Lions member to purchase those seats. Of course there are reserved seats and other general admission seats throughout the rest of the ground, but it is pot luck as to how many Lions fans you would be sitting with.

Hi guys,

I’m going to the G next week but don’t know whether I’m better off buying a reserved seat up high (level 4) or chancing our luck on general admission? Which sections are allocated to general admission? And do you need to get their considerably early to get a decent seat for GA tickets?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Edit: just realised I was on the Lions board!! Sorry, I googled the topic to find a previous thread and assumed it was on the main board. Ironic I ended up on this board, ahead of the weekend. Hopefully someone is kind and can help me anyway! :)
