Is he playing in the reserves? Interesting thing is that while key forwards take longer to develop it is very rare to see one that is off the rookie list. They're usually from high in the draft.

I'm guessing he's injured. For some reason the Eagles don't seem to include injured rookies on their 'official' injury list. It would also explain why Houlihan wasn't playing on the weekend.

Actually, now I think about it, I don't think JON ever appeared on the 'official' injury list either.

The club probably thinks that unless a rookie has been elevated he's not available for Eagles selection, therefore why bother to list them as injured if and when it happens. Doesn't help the supporters though, we're left in the dark.

He hasn't been playing reserves or colts for a number of weeks now so was wondering if anyone had the inside word on him

I don't think he will be useless either, if we get his body right could be a nice project player for us down the track

Sorry, but i had to

Useless player, I couldn't careless. Pretty sure his getting a game for the Claremont reserves though

Useless what are you basing that on ?

Shows a lot of talent good lead great contested mark.

He is behind everyone else in regards to fitness though, a bit like when Coxy was drafted is a fair way behind in the fitness stakes.

When he gets fit he will look very promising.

He has a thigh injury at the moment, so is a couple of weeks before playing again I beleive.

Played Claremont Reserves two weeks ago and did quite well especially in contested marks . Not sure why he never played this week but played two weeks ago , hopefully a minor strain ?? I believe from reports he has talent especially as a marking forward !

Edit

He has a thigh strain :o:o

Better prospect than Hamp.

McGovern and Broome will be the only current rookies I'd retain on the rookie list.

You Sir have NFI.

The kid has real talent........ his contested marking is outstanding. :thumbsu:

Playing reserves with Hamp (who is uesless)

Have seen McGovern play in ressies twice this year, and although he has played alright, I would be expecting more from an AFL listed player TBH

Don't know why people are already writing him off.
Let the kid develop for a year or two at least and see how much progress he's made from there.

hahaha mate it's bigfooty, it's basically all the members do.

2010 - Woosha, Lynch, Nicoski and Embley are all useless

you just need to be humble with the fact that in a few years you'll be part of the group saying "i told you so......."

He's a rookie listed player who can't even get a game in the Claremont seniors team, who cares

Funny enough so were Weedon and Broome last year and look what happened there

10 goals from 4 matches aint that bad and like was mentioned before this guy is probably starting with the same terrible fittness base that coxy had and I seem to recall one of the players giving an interview over the summer (maybe coxy) how hard he had to push himself to keep up with the guys at the back of the pack in the running exercises even throwing up a few times

McGovern really developed under the radar when he first started at the club didn't he!
I'm looking forward to his continued improvement this season. It will be interesting to see if he plays longer periods up forward this season. Personally I don't think Simmo would trial that unless we are winning (or loosing) games by lots. I think its more likely that he could be given licence to roam all over the ground similar to how Hawks were using Roughead, given that he seems to read the game situation pretty well.

Hoping he makes my job easy and goes b2b All Australian!

He was even more invisible than Brophy for the first couple of years, until a few arguments between Pat Footy (?) and Eastern Rangers raised the profile
