This guy seems to be flying under the radar a bit. I was pretty impressed with him in a few games I saw for Coburg last year, although he seemed to be played out of position a few times. His debut was unfortunate in a side that was always gonna get flogged so I'm ignoring that. How's he shaping up this year? Any goss or opinions?

was a bit suprised he was kept on the list to be honest...at this point has struggled in senior company, when given rare chance to strut his stuff. Accept he is project type player that still may come on but would seriously need to improve alot...where's he figuring in the NAB top 15 challenge?

the guy isnt even 20 yet and is a kp player their is no way he was going to get delisted

after schulz left coburg he was the only big guy down their who wasnt getting injured and played really well shame the whole team was crap which meant he had to go forward and back 10 times a game

he is a really good grab which means he can play chf but if he became a backmen it would give us more tall options

i like the kid could be a real suprise pack

Considering he missed his first year with injury and was taken young then I don't think he did too badly.
The two senior games that he played in we were seriously undermanned and got completely pumped so not the best environment to be settling in.
From what I saw of him at Coburg I think he did well , again, considering it was pretty much his first year. He doesn't seem to lack enthusiasm.
He may give himself more of a chance if he gets the hang of playing down back.
Has chicken legs that he needs to work on.

No offence but that is an incredibly dumb thing to say. McGuance was pick number 36 in the same draft we got Deledio, Tambling and Polo etc from.

Polo was pick 20, McGuane was pick 36. Hardly a "project player".

McGuane is a highly rated KPP who is 19 years old!! Why are you surprised he didn't get delisted last year???

He might do ok, i still say his best posistion is FF which is a problem when Schulz and Hughes is aswell.

two reasons, One, is in the ground time he had, there were occassions he could have showed he had what it takes, maybe it was a zig when he should of zagged or a solid mark that he made a meal of....so far there has been zilch ...

secondly , on what I saw of coburg, if it were between Limbach and Mcguane then perhaps I would have gone the other way....thats why I was suprised we kept him...ok?

Hard to judge him on one game or two... especially when getting smashed :(

About Limbach, apparently he had attitude problems (read from another site). Greg Miller, TW and FJ all see something in McGuane. I haven't seen it yet myself, but the resume writes itself and I'll give him faith.

Think about it. "19yo KPP who can play forward or back. Early Third Round draft selection". Much more usefull to the team than a project one trick pony with attitude problems imo... also I'm in a bloody terrible mood because of Cogs so if I sound rude that's why.

limbach is one dimensional

mcguane can play anywhere and can team up with hughes and schulz up forward or get something happening with thursfield and moore down back

he's 2 afl games have a combined losing margin of 200 points, i think there were more players than him that were much worse on those 2 days

has a great pair of hands and leap. is only 19 is very skinny still. and has a lot of work to do on his kicking and below his knees. patience is the key word with this kid. lets hope he can start being dominant at coburg on a regular basis this yr.

No, I think they were testing Limbach but developing McGuane.
Limbach got given free reign of the forward 50 and managed only 2 goals per game. Take away the bag of 7 and it was 19 from 12 games. Not very good when you are given that much opportunity.
McGuane on the other hand was given tough tasks like playing down back on Sav Rocca and he did Ok. Not great but OK.
To me that says they had real doubts about Limbach and greater faith in McGuane. It probably says something about attitude as well.
As far as McGuane's two senior games , I don't think you can read too much into it apart from the club showing greater faith in him

LMAO. So we should shaft Riewoldt?

:) And Kelvin Moore. Never liked Peter Moore at Collingwood or his namesake at Hawthorn.

Can't say I like Barry Hall all that much too, so Ray Hall can **** off! Ditto for Chris Hyde for sharing a name with that commentator Don Hyde!!!!

I could go on for days with these names, but would probably be left with Oakley-Nicholls and Tambling on our list!!!

McGuane has fire in the belly and some genuine mongrel about him. Might never be the most polished performer but is worse persisting with for another year. Limbach ahead of McGuane? McGuane showed more in a quarter at FF than Limbach did in a season.
