Based on the inspiration of doing a snapshot on the Buckley era after his departure announcement last year, I was keen to do one on the McRae era and update it on a weekly basis.

Is there anything else I should incorporate into it?

Our best 22 may well not be good enough to beat the best teams this season but that was never the big picture for us in 2022 was it?

What I and I expect many of you just want to see in 2022 is evidence of change under McRae, a distinct new style we hopefully could be excited with and one the players would seemingly be happy to embrace.

If tonight's game was an accurate description of how we wish to play in 2022 and the bare bones of a game plan that will be developed over time then I feel McRae is off to a very promising start.

No doubt we'll lose games this season to teams no better than the Saints, we might snag a couple against better sides but if this is our starting point, our baseline to build upon as our young players gain experience and new faces are added in coming seasons then I feel a sense of renewed hope after witnessing tonight's game.

Only one game I know but it felt like the breath of fresh air our club, players and supporters needed.

We didn’t give up, just lacked composure and lost the centre bounces in the last. Geelong with Dangerfield in the centre and even Selwood just dominated in the last both those guys as we know are old over 30, they are delivering to Hawkins (over 30) and Cameron (now 29), The medical sub for them comes on and has a big influence and it is another player Dalhaus (29+) so not a youngster. So I think we need to keep it in perspective that Geelong are an older team than need to win flag now(don’t think they will) and we are a a young team building.

The VFL match highlighted just how old the cats are and that they had nearly a full list at their disposal. It’s rare to see so much experience in a VFL team.

amazed how quickly he’s been able to implement the new style. Thought it would take a while to get rid of the bad habits.

Though that Defensive Bucks Gameplan might not been the worse thing to try when Cats had all the Momentum

Only Use when Need it
