Doesn't do much as a small forward, doesn't do much as a midfielder, is it time to give someone else a go? He doesn't seem to get involved enough to warrant a spot in the side at present, particularly with Fossie back. I think we would be better served by planting a small forward at the feet of our marking forwards (which is an area I thought we were thoroughly beaten today). Maybe give Schneider or Moore another chance...

I don't think McVeigh was (or has been) our worst player, but Roos seems unlikely to drop senior players (I, for one, would like to see Mathews given a rest) and McVeigh has had a decent shot at cementing his place without being able to do so. The problem is, I don't think he'll get much better in reserves, but I don't much think Schneider is either.

What to do???

Does anyone know how much game time McVeigh had today?

McVeighs a long term prospect who can play midfield and forward. Hes on the fringe but should still be ahead of Buchannon.

The jury is still out on Fosdike. One good game doesnt overturn 3 years of crap.

McVeigh has been pretty good for the last two weeks. He was quiet today but given that the whole midfield got its backside whipped for three quarters, he had some mates.

On the goal kicking, we actually got a much higher proportion of our goals today from the midfielders, whether they were actually playing in the midfield at the time or in a pocket - Fosdike 3, McVeigh, Crouch, Willo, Buchanan one each. That's 7 out of 12. The issue was that the forwards didn't kick their share - partly due to lack of supply, partly due to ordinary delivery when it did get there, partly due to some ordinary misses, and partly due to just poor play on their parts.

You can't bag Hall and MOL for todays loss. The delivery was shocking, they had a 5 on 2 situation that was never addressed, Davis and Co. were hiding somewhere, cetainly not at the fall of the ball, the ball came in very slowly and we only got quick centre breaks in the lastQ. If only we could get clear centre breaks and get it in quick like happened late, we would probably kick 4 more goals a game. I see it as our great weakness. We would be a different side. We are hell bent on a secondary bounce. As good as Kirk is close in he rarely gets a clear centre break. He plays his best and his best value is as purely a tagger.

Not too involved yet but I think he will be a key player in the future. Definitely has the skills, just need some more possessions.

Give McVeigh another week and if he is not up to it then we should cut him form the list at years end and look to un earth a future star who can run like the wind, kick both sides accruately and has the body of a 24 year old at 17 with our 64th pick !

Well the recruiters, media and Bigfooty posters say they are a dime a dozen................
