he will be nursed back and will come back in via bendigo so I would be surprised if we see him before round 15.

I'm tempted to rip the screen off my laptop but will try to counter it with optimism: we will be a greater force next year because of this. And the big picture is that next year is much more important than this year, results-wise.

McVeigh with an uninterrupted preseason next year, and no more injuries, will still be Mark McVeigh next year. That's awesome. But having him out now will make Hocking and Lonergan better players for next year. And if they're filling in McVeigh's role, someone else can improve in the flank/pocket/wing roles they would spend more time in if McVeigh was in the side (I'm thinking Zaharakis, Dyson).

It all comes back to McVeigh's massive importance to the side. It kinda gets inverted (still powerful, but it'll hurt more this way). Like Hille's ACL fast-tracking Ryder/Bellchambers' careers, whilst really putting the acid on Laycock to see what we can get out of him.

Optimism. Kinda works.

Not good news at all. Really thought this would of been McVeighs year. Hopefully he can come back strong for the 2nd half of the season and then have a great 2010, 2011...
