The shows been very popular in the USA and tonight Australia gets to watch Joe Millionaire.

This seven-episode, unscripted drama series sends 20 women to France for a whirlwind romance with a man whom they think is a dashing millionaire. In reality, however, "Joe Millionaire" is a construction worker raised in humble surroundings with only limited financial security. As he woos each woman, "Joe" will grapple with the difficulty of maintaining his million dollar charade. When he makes his final choice, he must reveal the truth about his month-long masquerade and his real financial standing to her

Who is watching it tonight? Any expectations?

I thought it was pretty funny.

Can't wait the to see the face of the woman he reveals to her the truth. :D Will be priceless.

True. Watching the girls whinge will be interesting, but I still think the concept of the show is kinda dodgy. But hell, whadda ya expect from TV these days.:p
 
I quite enjoyed the show tonight.
There's one real {B}itch on it that was one of the 12 selected, i didn't know if i wanted her to be shattered tonight or wait a few weeks so it hurts her a little more....then again maybe it would be cool to see her win and then Joe tell her he only earns 19k a year. The look on her heartbroken face would be priceless.

That's the only reason i will be watching the show. I personally do not have much interest in these reality shows, the only one i really watch with interest is Amazing Race.
 
I enjoyed the show - nothing too straining on the brain for a Thursday evening.

I know that the show was made by the same group that invented the American version of Temptation Island, but I didn't think they would actually use some of its music during the show! :eek:
 
I won't be watching it, as it is on at the same time as ER, but I find it a disgusting concept, a sleazy looking guy, who obviously can't get a woman in real life, has to pretend he is a millioairre, yet people are calling the women gold diggers, what do you call the guy, I call him a loser.
 
LOL What an absolutely crap show it is! I've watched parts of a couple of episodes here and can't believe people actually watch this without heaving! It's almost finished and I think he's down to two or three left. The only interesting thing is the Australian butler..... Paul Hogan! At first I thought, 'How low Paul Hogan has sunk,' when I read on another site that "Paul Hogan" was on the show..... and then I remembered his last film;) :p . Needless to say, it's not the 'real' Paul Hogan as the butler, though surely it would have been a step up for the 'original'!

The Bachlorette is also just concluding. I've watched a couple of episodes of that, just barely, in order to have a laugh. Certainly these type of "reality" shows cater to the "As the World Turns" type of viewer.

Speaking of 'reality shows', Survivor The Amazon begins next week. Too many series in too short of a timespan will be the death of this show. I agree with Myee8 about The Amazing Race. I like the mix of characters chosen and the places chosen to visit.

One of my favourite 'reality type' shows of all time, was the one on the ABC a few years ago, Race Around the World. I don't know if it really can be classified as such, but the film clips sent back showed how interesting 'real' life in different parts of the world is. What a great concept that show was.

The final two episodes are being very closely guarded in the States, similar to the "Who Shot JR" episode of Dallas!! The media are having a frenzy in trying to predict but the best story to come out is the rumour that he IS a multi millionaire but doesn't reveal this until gauging the reaction from the chosen one to his $19k a year revelation! How good would it be to see her knock him back cos he's not rich and then tell her he is and oops to late honey!!!!

Entertaining?.....definitely.


I too thought about Nick Holland.

My early favourite is Dana.

Clearly Heidi was dodgy.

The early favourite would be Melissa M?? I suspect.

The first I heard of this programme was when I came back from the Greek Islands. Turned the TV on and this crap was being promoted. The first thought I had was 'Oh yeah, I am back in Australia, I forgot what American crap we put up with here'
 
This show is absolute crap. Not only is it a sick concept, but the sleaziness of it is overwhelming.

Nonetheless, it was entertaining ;).

BTW, I can't stand Heidi.

Yeah but it sucks you in though doesn't it!!! What trash I thought from the trailers but then oh dear, can't wait 'til next week. I am sure Heidi will get what's coming to her!!
 
Is this show really considered/classified as a "reality program"?? How often in the real world does a guy, who has a relatively low wage, get thrown into a TV show where he's portrayed as a millionaire so that he can get a girl/wife/or whatever he's supposed to do and then has to tell her the truth to test out the relationship/whatever?
