Melb.Cup Calcutta

This may seem a little early but would anyone be interested in a Cup Eve Bigfooty Calcutta.

I used to go to one every year at my local cricket club but they stopped having them in 99 & do you think I can find a decent one since???

It wouldn't have to be a fund raiser,all money could go to the winners.I know it would take a bit of organising but there's nothing like Cup week & having your choice running for a few k in the Big One increases the interest no end.

We've all been to one or if you haven't, now's the time.
We wouldn't need 100's but 40-50 should ensure it's worth winning.

Any thoughts?

Have never been involved in a Calcutta before, but it sounds like a decent sort of idea to me.

The bidding might be a bit difficult - maybe start 24 threads when the field is finalised on Saturday and go from there?

I was actually thinking of a Bigfooty meet-up type situation.

Mainly due to money etc, but I guess it does rule out the non-Melbourne punters.

Open to any options though,maybe a straight sweep would be easier,nowhere near as much fun though.Can never seem to draw anything with any chance.

That's the best thing about Calcutta's,you only bid for the horse/s you like.

Oh yeah, forgot about the money aspect.

I agree on sweeps. It doesn't matter what I get, I stop it.

Used to be in a comp at a previous workplace where everyone put in $2/week for 6 months (around $50).

Then on Cup Eve had a huge party fully inclusive of food & drink & a Winner Take All Sweep of $800 cash.

The difference with this sweep was you had the option of trading your horse for another & you guessed it,
the punter who drew Jezabeel swapped it for some cat that's still running.
So in the end,knowledge & judgement triumphed,good thing!
