Trade Completed For Melbourne
Melbourne have completed their first trade which sees superstar full back Dustin Fletcher and extremely promising youngster Ben Reid. In return they have had to give up Jason Porplyzia and hard nut centre half back Craig Bolton. Newly appointed coach Casey18 said he was very excited on this trade.
"To get someone of as higher class as Dustin to the club is sensational, and we know Ben is going to be a very important player for us for many years to come. We thank both Jason and Craig for their services, Jason was going to be delisted by us so we are happy we have found him a new home. It is sad to see Craig go as he tried his heart out every time he put on the red and navy blue jumper, but sometimes sacrifices just have to be made."

In other news, Melbourne have signed ruckman Troy Simmonds for another 3 years.

Melbourne Announcement
Melbourne announce their intention to be extremely active in the trade period this year. They have put every player on the trade table, however keeping in mind that some players will take very good offers. Casey18 stated that Melbourne are chasing draft picks to bring some youth and speed into the side which he says they have been lacking recently.

"From what i have heard, we had a poor year last year missing the finals. We certainly are aiming for top 4 this year, and see no reason why we could not go all the way. We think we just require some younger players to bring some pace and youth to the club. We will be targeting 1st and 2nd round draft picks, and we are not writing off trading away anyone at this point in time. We shall need to trim our list down a bit, so we will be trying to find players new homes through trading rather than delisting them where they don't know what might happen. I urge anyone who is interested in any Melbourne players to talk to me and we will discuss a trade, in particular the players

Amon Buchannan
Matthew Carr
Nathan Eagleton
Mitch Hahn
Jordan McMahon
Matthew Whealen

But that does not mean we shall be writing off trading anyone else."

Whatever happens, it looks like being both an exciting pre-season and 2008 for the demons.

Melbourne Announcement
Melbourne are delighted to announce they have resigned Mark McVeigh for 3 years with a substancial pay cut. We appreciate this gesture from Mark because we rate him very highly and were willing to pay him more had other teams bid.

Melbourne
Melbourne have stuck with their promise to be active in the trading and bidding period this year.
They have succesfully bid for Ricky Dyson at this stage, and resigned Troy Simmonds and Mark McVeigh, as well as David Neitz to the vetrans list. They have also been very active in the trading so far, with the following trades being completed.

Massive Off Season For Melbourne

Melbourne have kept their promise to be highly active in the preseason. Having been runner up in a grand final 2 years ago, Melbourne had a very disapointing season last season with not making the finals, and casey18 has made some tough but what we believe correct decisions in players that were not pulling their weight. In this massive off season for Melbourne it has seen the following players join the club: Dustin Fletcher, Ben Reid, Setanta O'Hailpin, Brian Harris, Nick Riewoldt and Jonathan Brown in the trade period, as well as signing the following players Courtenay Dempsey, Ricky Dyson, Jay Neagle, and Chad Jones. They have also resigned ruckman Troy Simmonds, Mark McVeigh and Darren Milburn while David Neitz has been retained on the vetrans list. With all these inclusions there were players that had to go, and Melbourne bids farewell to the following players: Craig Bolton, Jason Polplyzia, Matthew Warnock, Matthew Whelan, Daniel Bell, Mitchell Brown, Brett Ebert, Brent Staker, Ryan Crowley, some Allen guy, Nathan Krakouer and Matthew Carr, while Simon Buckley, Jay Schulz and Michael West have been told there services are no longer required.
New coach casey18 has said this is the most exciting time in Melbournes history.
"The only players we are disapointed to have given up are Craig (Bolton), Brett (Ebert), Brent (Staker) and Ryan (Crowley). The others we fell just weren't pulling their weight, and even the players we wanted to keep we have replaced quite well. Brett and Brent just played in the pockets, so we have many players who can play there, Craig Bolton was a loss however we managed to replace him with high scoring key backmen Brian Harris and Dustin Fletcher, while we have received many players who can replace Ryan.

With all these inclusions, my money's on Melbourne to get back to where they were 2 years ago, and go one better.

Melbourne Welcome Brad
Melbourne unveiled their new young superstar yesterday when the picked Brad Ebert with Pick 8. Casey18 said even though Jared Grant is a superb player, they did not require him as their Key foward stocks are already high with stars Jonathan Brown and Nick Riewoldt and youngsters Chad Jones and Jay Neagle. However, Casey18 has stated that they might not be able to pass up such a talented youngster if he somehow manages to slip to Pick 27.
"Brad is a teriffic player and we were probably going to pick him anyway, but Jared was very highly rated by our board. We just do not require him @ the club at the present time, however i doubt we will be able to let slip such a talent if somehow he slips to Pick 27."

Brad will wear the #5, possibly the most famous number in football.
