Well i didnt think we could do it, play that well and come away with the 4 points against a good side in melbourne. With 4 mins to go in the 3rd quarter and us down by 11 points i thought, that's it, gone, another choke. But the leadership group, and younger players (Mundy) really stood up. It took alot of guts to come back from that, because as we know 9/10 in the past we would have gone on to lose a game like that by 5-7 goals. The game against brissy in 2001 in about round 5 or so comes to memory
Not too many worries out of the game, if we can get back Hayden, Hadrill soon Mcpharlin can camp himself at FF. Although i am still not sure this is the answer, if he marks the ball more than 35m out and not straight in front my heart goes in my mouth. But if he stays there confidence will come, because he seems to be able to mark anything that comes his way.
But onto why i started this thread, there has been times in the past where we have played like this for 1 week, out of the blue, on the road, then gone back into our shells. This win really sets us up, if we are a genuine top 8 side we should be 6-3 after round 9.
After todays win, next week against the pies becomes super important that we don't revert back to chipy, chipy sideways footy and undo all the hardwork we have done this week. In saying that i still think we can beat the pies playing chipy chipy but with the guys down in the forward line there is now no reason at all not to play direct. I think it's fair to say this is the first time our entire forward line has clicked since CC has been here.
I think most would agree with me in saying. It's important we learn from past years where we would win a game like this, get ahead of ourselves and lose the following week/s. While i will soak this win up and watch it on fox a few more times
in the long run it's just 1 win, we need another 9 more to make the finals and 11 more to get a home final.
We are now back on track!
