for gods sake songs by robbie williams, alanis morrisette and tai bachman are not classic hits theyre songs from the 90s and belong on other stations

are they trying to drive listeners away?

Totally agree.

The format of 60's,70's & 80's was great.

Now i'm finding it hard to listen to when all of a sudden some 90's **** like REM or Bahcman comes on.

It's driving me away i have to say.

yeah i heard the song 'better man 'by robbie williams on 104 today,i thought i was listening to mix or fox fm

gold 104 are trying to get the 18-30 demographic as well as the older listeners

Jesus H Christ. I listen to SEN the other 90% of the time anyway, so it doesn't really faze me.

Likewise. Gold 104 is usually the "compromise" station at work because there's no Nickelback or Hinder, but they more than make up for it with an Elton John song every 15 minutes.

SEN is the choice at home unless the motor "sports"/fishing/basketball shows are on. If I want to listen to music, I'll put on a CD.

Then why comment on it

Because I couldn't be bothered writing this to go with it. :p

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. Except that motor racing is a sport. Most of it is crap though, I only ever watch the F1 (not just in Melbourne) and Bathurst.

They were playing songs in 1997 that were from 1989, so yeah going on past performance, technically songs from 1999 in 2007 is still under "classic hits".

It can't be that hard to have a decent oldies station.

I'm really surprised they are doing this.

I mean they were never going to be the highest rating station, but doing this is more likely to lose them listeners rather than gain them.

From what iv'e heard though it's mainly during the day which is a blessing.

Please don't play the Beatles version of Twist and Shout every ten minutes

Anyone else remember when Gold 104 used to play 50's 60's and 70's? They dropped the 50s not long after they started playing 80s songs.

Pop music hasn't changed as much from 1999 to 2007 as it did from 1989 to 1997, though. We'll probably hear songs like "Lips of an Angel" make it onto Gold in the next ten years if more modern songs are on there now *shudder*

Yup sure do.

It was good to have a bit of Chuck Berry and Eddie Cochran on, though i remember that they had 80's and 50's on at the same time.
