After the truly abysmal effort of the North cheersquad over the weekend, I got to thinking about some of the memorable banners (good or bad) I've seen over the years.

One that came up in conversation was the Fitzroy banner in it's death throes:

Poor bastards - I really felt for the fans of the club.

Some very good stories surrounding the death of the Lions BTW.

Ha ha ha ha - good stuff.

So, over to you - what memorable banners have you seen?

From last year: "The Cats just ran out of lives."

Geelong went on to win that game.

The banner itself wasn't particularly impressive; but because of what it represented I remember it well.

I'm not sure if I am remembering it correctly (I can't find an image of it), butin the 1993 grand final I believe Carlton's said something along the lines of:

"You're sixteen, you're beautiful and you're mine". I remember it because its one of the earliest memories I have of absolutely despising Carlton.

This isn't so much the banner as the photo for me, having the players line up in front of it before running through made for a powerful shot

The KISS principle applies with banners.

The simple banners like the "Don't Think Do" banner are the best ones, the worst is when the cheersquads try and be too clever with some rhyming verse that just sounds lame rather than inspiring.

The crows banner for their first ever game was something like " time to get some hawk on our fork" which was quite good

Smashed the hawks that night too
