Those were the days... sigh.

That last time in '05

I remember the Collingwood fans giving it to Amon Buchanan when he went down with cramp after taking a mark in the back pocket. Siren went soon after.

Watching that clip, it's tempting to look back at our team then and compare them to this year's side, but every team is different, I know it sounds trite but it's up to the current group of players to create their own destiny. We don't have a Barry Hall or Michael O'Loughlin in the forward line, but as we go into another finals campaign, the team needs to build on its own unique talent. If we're lucky and everything clicks into place, you just never know...

Ah yes, beating Collingwood. Who would of thought that back in 2005 that would be the last time we had beaten them up until now.

The memories of beating them is fastly fading. I remember belting them in 2003, Eades first win as coach in 1996. My favourite was 2001 i think at the Docklands when Eade said after the match that we still had 2 players on the field that wouldn't have continued playing the game if it weren;t for the amount of injuries we had that day. I think poor Heath James done his hammy for the millionth time, Cresswell was injured early as well as a couple of others. It was a warzone.

One of my great Swan-Pie memories is 1995 Rd 22 at the SCG. Barassi's last game as Swan coach and as it turned out, Leigh Matthews last game as Collingwood coach.

A group of us hired a box for the day and we had a great spot, as it turned out, directly above where Mr and Mrs Rocca were sitting. There was quite a media scrum in the leadup, being the first time the brothers had played against each other. I remember the media asking the parents if they had a preference and Mr Rocca said 'I don't give a ****, I follow Richmond'...lol

Collingwood needed to win to secure a finals berth in front of a young and surging Brisbane who climbed above them the night before. They got away to a 3-4 goal lead, we pegged them back and a young up and coming forward Leo Barry nailed a goal from the boundary and 50m in his debut. From memory we won pretty comfortably in the end which set us up for the highs of 1996 and beyond, IMHO....

Another great night was Jared Crouch's debut early '98 at the MCG where Plugger tore a young Mal Michael a new one....
