I'll try to keep this short and sweet.
Weather this time, if a tad windy, was good. But really cold at night though.
Friday saw us arrive at around 4.30. Gates had been open since 1 which meant we missed a spot in the Bush Camping section and had to be content with a spot in Hong Kong, close to the Eye. Decent spot meant we could hear all bands without having to actually see them.
I was quite keen to see Peeping Tom and they are a band I'll be definitely checking out in the future. Out of the rest the highlight of the night was The Mess Hall. These guys are fvkin brilliant. A close second was You Am I. Played their newest stuff at the start and then rocked out a greatest hits set for the rest. Lowlight of the night, J-Live. I will say now that I don't listen to hip hop and this guy is probably the reason. When I see a band, I pay for them to do the singing. Every song included a crowd singing bit. It might work in Philly. It doesn't work in Meredithy. Also, the Young Professional were not good, whilst British India were not bad.
Saturday involved hangover drinks and bacon and egg sandwiches. My head wasn't great which meant I didn't venture down at the start and as a result, missed a good place to setup for the day. This meant making the 5 minute walk to the stage, seeing a band and then walking back to me chair. The first band I saw was The Kills. Were good without being spectacular. I knew a few of their song from listening to their CD. I then didn't venture down for a few hours until i saw the last 20 minutes of Cut Copy. I actually didn't mind them. Now the next band for discussion, straight out of Warrnambool, Airbourne! Fantastic! Balls out rock and roll. Great stage show. Will see them again. I enjoyed Sons and Daughters and then there was Wolfmother. 6th time I've seen them and still a great show. Played every song they've recorded and also Love Train which I love.
The mystery act. Bob Log III. Having seen him twice already, i was quite content to listen to Boob Scotch from the comfort of my chair.
Made a bfief sojourn to catch a bit of the Avalanches. The place was going off as all the chemical kiddies went nuts. After 2 days of solid drinking, I retreated to the campsite, got into my sleeping bag, had a smoke and sat on my chair, then fell asleep with the Avalancches in the background.
Sunday. Slept a bit longer than the night before. I got 5 hours this time. Not alot to report. My mates horse which he had part owned for 18 months and has never seen a race was entered at Tatura. This meant we were packed up and heading out the entrance just before midday to get to Melbourne to watch Race 4 an TVN at my place. Shouldn't have bothered. It didn't win.
That was Meredith. Tip for next year. Don't drink as much Friday night.
