I think both came from the 04 draft. Forget trading shultz or hughes back to SA trade meyer has played a few games the crows could do with a player like Meyer, there ruck stocks are fine, ours a terrible

I think that would be Messen pick 8 for Meyer pick 12 and Meyer has played a few afl games, messen is yet to debut.

Messen goes home and Danny goes home

Make it happen

i'd take it - doubt adelaide would

Meyer and Meesen have one thing in common at the moment and that is theyve hardly done anything in the AFL. Its a good and fair swap. Hughes has kicked 3 goals 2 games in a row from CHF in the worst side in the competition...and they think they can get him for Meesen ]

think thats funny do ya?? well look closer wise guy

Most are saying that we should give them Hughed PLUS a 2nd round pick for him.

Meesen is out of contract at the end of the year. It is rumoured that he wanted to come home last year but gave in and signed on for one year only!!! He should be our number one target for next year. Ideally we need to convince him to comit to coming to Richmond via the PSD, then use this as leverage to get him relativelycheaply in a trade (i.e. Meyer/Hartigan etc). This would leave us with our PSD pick to hopefull secure another Ruckman, who is out of contract at the end of the year.

There also asking whether clubs would trade players like Cooney, Griffen, Monfries etc to get him.

yes, they are a little stupider over in the south. good football sides though

agree he should be a big target for us over the PSD period - i'd gladly take the spoon for the number 1 pick, and 3 overall in the top 20. add in Meesen and we we have something to be excited about again.

Ruckman are going to be very overpriced this trade peiod, even more so than in the past. there are a good half dozen sides that are looking for a ruckman. best chance would b to get in meesan's ear and try and persuade him to come to us in the Pre-Season draft.

Tipping this is a trade that both clubs are looking at very closely and the Tigers may look at even closer come seasons end if we do secure Pick 1 in the National draft that would allow us to look at either a defensive KPP or a quality inside midfielder that can step in straight up next year from the get go.

However may I offer up another trade option for consideration:
Richmond trade Meyer and Schulz for Meesen and Crows first round pick. In effect we would have traded 2 former first rounders for a former first rounder and a first round pick. If as has been suggested we need to start again regarding the rebuilding of the list this would give us a great opportunity to do so. Would Tigers fans be happy with that as a trade. In effect we gain a developing ruckman we need. Another first round draft pick and depending on the amount of games we won for the year we would possiblt have 4 picks in the first 20 of the draft. Surely from that position we would be able to secure 4 players to fill gaps on the list i.e. KPP defender, Inside Mid, Another young ruckman and another KPP forward.

*Disclaimer: I am not advocating the trading of any players as such just putting up an alternative for discussion. IMO any and all options should be considered as long as it does not entail the club trading away its picks for 26 year olds who have not been able to cut it at other clubs.

it's very risky - but does give them a chance to do things right.

if we could get meyer for messon and keep jay, i would prefer that option. as we do know what we get with Jay. if we can get a priority pick this season, 3 in the top 20 would be enough, if we get meeson.

I think they will be underpriced. Quite a few clubs will be looking to free up space to recruit Kreuzer, Bellchambers, Henderson, Sullivan, Mulligan etc etc.

I am suprised at those targeting Meesan, Warnock etc. Adding another 21-year old who hasn't played and needs an apprenticeship doesn't solve our problems.

Going with Simmonds, Meesan, Pattison still leaves us stuffed if Simmonds is injured. We need a viable understudy - not another apprentice. Meesan, Pattison, Graham and a draft pick all competing for the number 1 spot at Coburg leaves us in trouble.
