MFC and MCC?

Hey Guys, I don't post much on here I just prefer to read what others have to say but I would like to know the history between the MFC and the MCC. I was only a young kid In the 80's so I don't know to much about why we split with the MCC?

In the last few years Ive heard a lot of talk coming out of MFC about repairing relationships between the two parties but just what are we trying to repair and what would be the advantages of getting back In with the MCC? Ive read a few things lately and heard Jimmy speaking very positively about discussions between the two parties.

I don't know what it is but I have feeling Jimmy Is trying to we've some magic behind the scenes. Lets hope so...

This is my understanding, although it might not be 100%.

The football club was operating as a branch of the MCC for many decades. During amateur times, this was a great partnership as we had exclusive access to the MCG, great administration and many supporters.

When the game started going professional in the 70's, the MCC was unwilling to dig into its pockets to help us attract quality players. We'd also lost our home ground advantage when Richmond became co-tenants of the MCG in 1965. Basically, the MCC did not wish to invest heavily into the football club, but as we could not continue down this path much longer, we decided to cease our official relationship in the early 80's.
