Opening the batting today for Italy in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifying tournament, Di Venuto scored an unbeaten 42 off 40 balls to guide Italy to a commanding 9 wicket victory over Oman.

Good on him for giving it a crack, and I hope he gets a few more runs and wins under his belt.

Also, Geraint Jones made a 6 ball duck for Papua New Guinea in their loss to Afghanistan, and apparently is not their first choice keeper.:o

Peter Petricola who plays for Melbourne in premier cricket also made 39 for Italy. Namibia beat Ireland by 4 runs in a upset.

His brother also played for Italy in years past.

Good to see, he's been the best performed batsman in Hobart cricket too, showing the contracted boys how to do it.

I see Brett Geeves is in that list. I thought he had to retire from all cricket due to injuries?

Di Venuto, Tubb, Geeves, Cunningham, Marsh, Divin, Lockyear, Kremerskothen.

The batting average list in Hobart grade cricket is a mass "where are they now" congregation.

Diva is a better T20 batsman that P Forrest - and Forrest is in the Aussie squad in the WI.
