Point being they were both thugs. Cousins is a gangland figure in Perth, whilst Gardiner is gardiner.

You must remember that it was reported that Gardiner introduced Cousins to these people. He's the one with the real connections. Off the field Cousins isn't too bright apparently.

What about

Our Picks 8, 26, 42 (Hawkins) 58, 74

Trade King to St Kilda for Pick 11

Trade Kelly and Pick 11 to Essendon for Pick 1 (Sheedy flagged that as an option)

Trade Playfair/Hunt to Sydney for Pick 30

Trade pick 26 and Spencer for Polak

Charlie to Brisbane for Pick 38

Picks 38 and 58 for M. Gardnier

Ricco Retires, Lonegan delisted, Slade Delisted

End Up with live Picks 1, 8, 30,74

In

Gibbs
Stellar/Thorpe
Polak
Gardnier
Prismall Jnr
Hawkins
Pick 74
Pre-season Pick

Out:King, Kelly, Playfair/Hunt, Ricco, Lonegan, Spencer, Gardnier, Slade

Salary Cap eases as well. It would happen in my fantasy football world :-)

Future Team (blokes that can mark and pace to burn)

B: Milburn, Scarlett, Harley
HB: Enright, Polak, Corey
C: Tenace, Ling, Varcoe
HF: Ablett, Stellar, S.Johnson
F: Chapman, Hawkins, Ottens

Rucks M. Gardiner, Gibbs, Bartel

Inter Mooney,Kingsley, Prismall, Rooke

Emg Mackie, N Ablett, Woja

You've taken it a bit too far there. Forget Polak and Gardiner, trade S Johnson and Kingsley to Bulldogs for pick 29, delist Charlie, Spencer, Koula, Lonergan, D Johnson, McCarthy and draft as follows:

1: Gumbleton
8: Proud
26: Sheringham
29: Tippett/Renouf
30: Djerkurra

Then you have a side that looks like this in 2007:

B: Milburn, Scarlett, Harley
HB: Woja, Egan, Callan
C: Tenace, Bartel, Varcoe
HF: G Ablett, Mooney, Stokes
F: Chapman, N Ablett, Ottens

Rucks: Blake, Corey, Byrnes

Inter: Rooke, Prismall, Enright, Hawkins

Emg: Sheringham, Gamble, Proud, Gumbleton, Owen, Djerkurra

And one that looks like this in 2010:

B: Rooke, Scarlett, Callan
HB: Mooney, Egan, Enright
C: Tenace, Proud, Varcoe
HF: G Ablett, Gumbleton, Stokes
F: Chapman, Hawkins, N Ablett

Rucks: Blake, Corey, Bartel

Inter: West, Sheringham, Prismall, Djerkurra

Emg: Gamble, Tippett/Renouf, Woja, Byrnes, Grima

Now that would be a football side and a half!

Gardiner isn't either by the looks of things. Threw a brilliant life away... Then they gave him a second chance, and he spat it in thier face.
DUUUUUR.

geezus h krist!!!!!! if we actually decided to get agressive at the trade table we could possibly be close to pulling this off! i like the cut of your jib. however, i think youve gotten your players mixed up. if you think youre getting stellar or thorp at pick 11 youre mistaken. .

I actually traded pick 11 and kept pick 8. Hopefully one of the 4 talls would still be left. Gibbs is a gun. We need a gun midfielder badly.

I only suggest Gardiner coz I traded King. He could be a very good player and Blake isn't ready yet. It will take draft picks to get him

Polak will get there it's just Freo. Look at Trent Croad now at CHB.

Anyway it's all a dream . We would never actually have the balls to do it mainly b/c we are Geelong but most of those trades seem rougly fair and salary cap wouldn't be a problem. We lose King and Kelly but hey such is life. Basically 3 top 10 picks in a superdraft. The best midfielder for ages and two of the best 4 talls for 5 yrs, plus Polak and some cover for King. FFS we need a change. We need to inject some quality

(unless we get sheedy while hes on something).

Sheedy would be on pain killers in hospital atm. QUICK! Send in the cavalry!

We have had a quiet few years at the trade table aside from Ottens which was a big deal although we didnt loose much. I sort of doubt Kelly would go although he might. I do agree though that we should be trading aggressively.

Fair enough, but what should we be trading for in your opinion?

Based on the year to date form, I think its time for some busy and aggressive quality trading. The faith in the 'building' core group mentality has not been repaid, only exploited by some.

First and foremost I think we should be trading for another genuine (1)ruck to keep Ottens up FWD. (Ottens as Sept backup ruck, that's what we play for.) I don't know if King will last playing for as long as we hope.

We need another firstrate (2)goalkicker. Then the rest of the forward line will score easier, making even Kingsley et al, look good. I am sick of having our best playing group in defence. (Fortunately Mooney move happened, though not through Thompson's initial preference.) Overweight the forwardline with talent, not the backline grunts, pulling back chapman & ablett as attacking centers. Hawkins is a start.

Get someone who can coach the forward line.

We will get more from our upcoming midfield stocks, but time to say bye to Ling and Ricco. I cannot see Ling as a Premiership quality player anymore. Place on trade table Ling, Slade, Lonergan, Kingsley
D Johnson (he's too short imo, and good young players are coming up), even perhaps Milburn(29yo)?? for a great forward.

Mackie and McCarthy DESERVE another year.
McCarthy doesn't appear the most confident guy going round, but he is a courageous contested mark. He will improve without too much pressure. He should have been in the team weeks ago.
Does Blake deserve another year, or should he go the Chambers way? Depends on the trade.

And watch out for Adelaide's (or Port) move for Stokes (though I don't know his contract).

- Blake must stay
- Mccarthy will be de-listed

Agree:
- Need another ruck. Trading Mackie for Meesen as been suggested - would be good if we could get it. Otherwise happy to go draft for that though because King and Ottens will be around for another couple at least
- Ricco will retire
- Ling is almost a liability at the moment - gone if trade is right
- Mackie deserves another chance (unless we get a really good trade for him)
- Happy to lose D Johnson, Slade, Kingsley. Add Spencer, Charlie, Koula, McCarthy, maybe Lonergan. Would also happily trade Kelly, S Johnson, J Hunt, Ling, Playfair if the deal is right

Disagree:
- Don't need another goalkicker. Key positions: Hawkins coming in, N Ablett and Grima developing, Ottens and Mooney already there. Get rid of the rest.
- Ablett, Chapman to stay predominantly forward with Stokes, Byrnes when he learns to kick straight, S Johnson
- McCarthy lacks one KEY skill to succeed at AFL level - kicking. It's a long way short of the mark, and he's had a long time to fix it. Gone.
- Blake will be good. Almost there. And why would we trade him when we are short in ruck stocks anyway?
- Badly need to keep Milburn for the experience and leadership. Trading him would be a very big mistake.

Other thoughts:
- I think Harley is unlikely to last more than a couple more years, and maybe Lonergan could be the next KP defender?
- Playfair convert to ruck?
- Rookie list Davenport
- Promote Batchelor off rookie list

I wouldn't like to see S Johnson or McCarthy go. These guys are genuine match winning potential players.

Everyone in Geelong would like to see Blake do well.

Bollocks.

S Johnson is lazy and unwilling to put in the hard yards. He also will never reach his full potential due to the fact he is a virtual cripple at the ripe old age of about 23.

I love Matty McCarthy's endeavour, persistence, presence, pack marking ability and just about everything else about him, except his kicking. It is simply not even close to AFL standard. And as he's had a long, long time now to fix it and has made little progress, I'm certain it never will be.
