I think its been said that it would be easy for Hurley to break his contract. Essendope got done for Worksafe violation so that is enough for Hurley to turn around and give the two finger salute to Essendope and break his contract. If he wants to that is.

For mine it is whether he wants to become a DFA and then it comes down to who he wants to play for. You'd think we'd be in with a shot on a number of levels. Get him and the flexibility of our spine would be unbelievable with Goddard, Hurley and Carlisle being able to switch and Bruce also if needed. Perhaps Goddard could play that Ruck/Fwd role?

I'd love Hurley but would not want to deal with Dildo Face nor would I want to give away our 1st round draft pick on anything else but a quality mid either through the draft or a gun from another side so it would have to be a DFA

My point is we have no front running like some actually imagine on here. Matter of fact I haven't heard anyone in the media even mention our name. That is the be all but they do hear more than people on here because of their contacts.
Moorabbin Ghost would be able to probably confirm that then for you. Don't really care what the media says these days, we've seen with people like Damien Barrett that most of his stories are rubbish anyway.

We have huge amounts of cash in the bank if Fish hangs it up plus the kitty we've collected over the past 3 years. So we can afford him, and he fits well into our system.

Ok

I wouldn't mind a defence consisting of Dempster, Carlisle and Hurley next year. They'd blanket a fair few forwards. But I reckon this might be a bit of posturing by Hurley to get a similar deal that Heppell is getting. Sue the club so he can get cash from outside the salary cap, he might just be playing hardball.

Not much we are cashed up can use 105% of the SC and the SC will be substantially increased with the next broadcadt deal.
Doesnt matter as we in all likelihood wont recruit him
Yeah I would think so too.
Our next big fish should be a midfielder and probably in 18months time.

Correct. We have spoken to the Hurley party on more than one occasion this year. He knows exactly where we sit as a club.
I've had a feeling all along that he will stay at Essendon but until he commits then who knows?
IF we added Hurley it doesn't mean that Hurley, Carlisle and eventually Goddard can't all fit in our 22 in years to come.

I understand the AFL not wanting any of the banned Bombers to break their contracts. However, I think we have two things on our side:

1) There is clearly going to be no mass exodus of Bomber's players.
2) I think we are owed one after the AFLPA chose to stitch us up over the Carlisle video nice and good.

I note that I am still wrapped about the Carlisle acquisition nevertheless. The video and his absence this year will soon be well forgotten :)

I find it strange we aren't getting mentioned in the media if we are so keen. Is it we just aren't an important club? And yes I know the media don't know everything but you would think one of them would have heard about our interest or is our interest just token interest like probably most clubs?

There is clearly not going to be a mass exodus of Dons players. And how did the AFLPA stich us up over Carlisle. I don't understand either of those points. an you explain a bit more please?

Unless he can add to our midfield depth I don't see the point in going after Hurley.

The next two drafts and trade periods should see us focus on midfielders and nothing else.

We are so bereft of midfield depth and top end talent, we will be left behind by the clubs in and around our level if we don't address this issue.

Fact is, Roo and Joey make up 2 of our top 5 this year. Gilbo potentially next cab off the rank in our top 6. We are not as young as we perceive ourselves to be. I'm certain that Ross, Dunstan, Billings, Acres and Gresham will be top line midfield players. We need to double this group.
He averaged 21 disposals in 2015 he's more then just a defender he would improve the saints ball movement

Do you guys call him that because of what he does to your mob at trade time?

Haha nice one - no, he is hated in the industry from my sources. Very difficult to deal with and very unrealistic and unreasonable. That is why so few trades happen with Essendon as its not worth dealing with him. BJ was different as he was a free agent - no need to engage Dildoro....have a look at the inter club trades with Essendon over the last however many years Dildo has been in recruitment - or rather the lack of them compared to other clubs

I am friends with a couple of peeps who used to be inside the Bombers and he was nearly given the flick multiple times but managed to hold on to this job somehow

Yeah, I'm so disappointed we ended up with Jake Carlisle and Jade Gresham instead of Aaron Francis and Alex Morgan..

Now bugger off.

Pretty sure I have heard on numerous occasions that this is also his nickname in the industry, not just the Saints BF Forum FWIW ;)

And Jack Dyer rucked and he was only 75cm.

But times have changed.
Now that is small.
Well it was before metrics, so it was about 2' 4".

May sound small, but the average height then was only 1 foot 7 inches, so he was a giant among men.

Would get smashed these days of course

The players look bigger on that famous photo where he punches Meehan from the Saints. Funny what they can do with a photo.

Can anyone drive a pendulum??? There was a lady on sunrise the other morning who, with the aid of a pendulum predicted Sam Armytage to meet the man of her dreams before 2018, Port Adelaide to make finals this year, and for the Libs to win the election.
Maybe get her in for a q and a on the Saints bigfooty?? Or someone else use a pendulum?? I'll give it a go, but can only be yes or no answers. For I have spoken.
