Do we really want a coach who has massive issues communicating to younger players?
Is this fact or one of the many football myths/herald sun journalism?
One fact I know is that despite being sacked for months, four younger players still chose to leave Brisbane. FOUR!
That tells me much bigger problems were at the Lions than just the coach.
Voss doesn't strike me as a snake oil salesman. He speaks as though his mistakes cut deeply and he would be hellbent on making sure that he doesn't make the same mistakes again. I would love to have guys like Dusty, Conca, Ellis etc have to come in after every quarter and have to look their midfield coach (Voss) in the eye and assure him that they have given everything.
Probably wont happen but I think he would improve our footy club.
I would think he would be very reflective on his time and he would adjust any real or perceived faults if any of this was actually true. From what I heard, it wasnt that he was aloof or arrogant or anything like that. He genuinely struggled to communicate his vision. Off memory the Lions got him some training or something of the sort to try and overcome this, but they obviously lost patience
I was a massive Voss fan (of the big 4 back then he was my fav), but a coach needs to know how to communicate. If we get Voss its as an assistant with a leadership role, not one with training wheels on. This is my only reason for saying no
To be a head coach perhaps, but surely someone of his experience would still have some worthwhile contributions as an assistant coach. He walked into the head coach role with no coaching experience, he's had to learn how to take on the toughest coaching role at a club the hard way.I reckon vossy is great in the media, was ordinary as a coach though, lacked the smarts, vision, and plYer management necessary to be a good coach
