It gets down to the culture of the club, we're unwilling to build a team. It's the 1980s mentally of instant success, if that's doesn't come, then heads role
Yep, we're still stuck back there. That's what struck me most about the Ratten sacking/Malthouse appointment.

I could live with 5 years of failure if I felt we were building something with a solid foundation. Our obsession with taking shortcuts the past dozen years, in the modern era, is a recipe for failure. That's what I can smell cooking.

So build from the ground up, no quick fixes, trade players with good value but no heart and create a new, stronger culture.

Right now we are not even treading water, we have a poor, old list on the decline. Take your medicine Carlton.

I was hopeful that we would make finals this year, but I though we might lose more games in the first half of the season and then as the players got use to MM game play we would see improvement in the second half of the season. I was wrong, but still think MM was a good move. In the early 90's the NBA team Golden State played a style called Run TMC, which was full tilt offence on the back of a few great shooters. Everyone loved watching it cause it was flashy and exciting but they finnished at about .500. That was us under Ratten, and if we need to go back, change to a tougher defensive style to win then so be it. If it means tough calls on fan favorites or super skilled players so be it and the best thing we can do to forget them is get a team playing for a flag.
We brought in MM for a flag and if he cannot do it with the list we have now, then Im looking forward to the changes and improvement next year.

Its funny, I never liked the appointment of Pagan but have never questioned getting Malthouse in. Dont know why.

''Having been in this industry for a long time, these are the prerequisites: I want a healthy side, a good game-plan and an attitude [of] 'we are hungry enough','' Malthouse said in an article published in the program for the club's intra-club match at Visy Park on Friday.

There's your problem rite there! Game plan could use a slight tweak IMO

I'm more than prepared to back Mick's coaching record against the player's playing record TBH. This list has been trading on a mixture of potential and injuries at the wrong time for a number of years now and it's become very obvious it won't be taking Carlton to another flag.

I look forward to seeing what changes occur in the off season and hope Mick gets it right.
