“I had an opportunity yesterday to talk to a number of football people and there was almost a hint from them that they don’t go as often as they did because the game is too predictable in regards to Hawthorn winning another one (and) if it’s not them it’s going to be Sydney or Geelong,” Malthouse said on SEN.

I expect to hear drivel from the uneducated masses. People who know the game - even the likes of Eddie Mcguire et al know as much as they may dislike the fact the Hawks are winning - their sole ambition is to try and see their club best us.

When you yourself are a Premiership winning coach - and you get to the point of whingeing - you know that there's something wrong.

Mick Malthouse, if you're going to complain, at least do so under your own name. Not under the proviso of quoting 'unnamed football people' - about our great clubs' continued success.

I think it's about this point in time that any reputation you may have had, evaporates with your comments.

So people "almost hinted" that they don't go to games as much any more because Hawthorn win too much?

This despite us only playing in 1 out of 9 games a week (bye weeks excluded) and having won 80% of our games.

So of all the AFL games played so far this season we've won about 8.7% of all them.

Seems like there's plenty of footy available to watch that doesn't have the oh so predictable result of Hawthorn winning. And that includes games with Hawthorn playing too!

Why is it that in other eras and sports a success story like ours is universally seen as an amazing achievement and all accolades deserving?
I think the answer may lie in the acknowledgement that from the moment of a fourth victory in this day and age will make this hawthorn dynasty the indisputable greatest ever and may never be beaten and it is too much for many of the people associated with other clubs to take.

Mick Malthouse for example could say he was part of the the club with the most premierships or greatest supporter base etc etc..All of the claims that could be made are being challenged and it hurts. The schadenfreude I feel about that is so lovely I almost feel a bit guilty...almost.

This thread is already giving Mick what he wants, relevance. only job he could get was coach on the recruit, actual AFL players like the banned bombers didn't want a bar of him.

We should talk about something else, like ice cream.

Just watch the media dicks celebrate whe Boomer breaks Tuckies record. I wonder how many will mention Finals or Grand Finals with their Boomer Applause!

As I have said many times, it all just shows how jealous other clubs, ans their reporting fans are of our success. I don't think Mouldhouse can come to terms that such a lowly a club Hawthorn could achieve such success without help. After all we aren't even one of the BIG 4, and MM was associated with three of those.

Rant over, have to go for a swim.

I hate to be a pedantic bastard (I really don't)

But that isn't an ice cream.

This is an ice cream

Poor Mick, it's Hawthorn's fault he couldn't get Carlton to a grand final. Cost him his job in the end. How dare a club be ran well and have sustained success.

I don't recall the scrutiny of Geelong being so high by the media when they were winning all the time. Maintain the success anymore and the Dingley base will look more like Bonneville if this trend continues.
