How valuable will mick mcgaune be as a assistant coach at st kilda and will he eventually be a senior coach? im from bendigo and seen mick up close as a coach of the gisborne football club and had the pleasure of workin with him on the local radio station. i have never seen anyone study the game of footy like him before. he guided gisborne to 3 grand finals 4 2 premierships. any thoughts?

I think most AFL clubs will need to see a sustained period of behavioural restraint before anyone looks at a senior job for Micky, as good as his football brain is. Paying for past sins??? You betcha

Valid point, and St Kilda, having been there before would be very wary of someone with Mick's history.

That said, Mick has entered the limelight now and cannot afford to fall back into past ways - it would be terminal for his coaching aspirations.

The guy has a lot to offer and will learn a lot from GT along the way.
His resume will look pretty fantastic if the Saints have some success soon or immediately and who knows - he may well be lured away to coach his own AFL team within a few short years.
