A big mistake about to happen, I would think. Mick is gone with a capital 'G'.

So who would you put at full back then?

Why does my statement of the obvious necessarily mean that I have to nominate his replacement ?
With his usual meticulous planning, I am sure Pagan has a ready-made replacement waiting in the wings. (not)
) as you put it, but can we seriously expect whatever replacement to be as effective as an out-and-out champion who might not play more than 10 games at 100%? In my personal opinion, the answer is no.Originally posted by DarkRider
Darky,
I don't share your opinion of Martyn. A likeable bloke, a cult figure, an immensely strong & courageous player, but a champion ? Never. Just a very good player who made the most of his limited skills.

You are a pessimistic dill Dark Rider.
Martyn is not a Champion???
Have a look at our win -loss record without him.
And he has played on some of the greatest players of all time, and maintained his standing as the cornerstone of our premiership sides.
Not to mention two best and fairests.
Seeking attention from ridiculous pessimism is not a great way of making a name from oneself.
Anyone questioning Mick Martyn's status as a champion of the game has to have their ability to understand football severely questioned.

Aussie_Roo,
To answer your question, Carey is a champion, Skilton was a champion, Mathews was a champion, Hudson was a champion. Martyn is (was) a good player. The difference is obvious.
Supporters love Mick, and therefore tend to credit him with virtues which he simply doesn't have. Whether he has played all his games at the one club, or won a club B&F has nothing to do with it either.
KHM,
Abusing me does nothing to add to your credibility either. Mick is not now, and never has been, a champion. The nearest we have had to a champion in the fullback position, by the way, was Dench, who was a much better player than Mick.

Are you sure you're not an alias of Moti.com? You speak as much shyt as him. I wish you would go forth and multiply - Everything you speak is absolute diatribe and negative and I've had enough of you.
Tall poppy syndrome - thats what I would call you. Mick Martyn was included in our team of the century. Up yours!!
