Anyone caught on to the trend of people naming their kids middle names like Rose or Lily something that sounds pretty and all that but has no meaning at all?

I had an argument with the mrs about this topic, most people I know my age (26) have middle names which have a family connection for example my middle name is my fathers name.

I know of 4 parents in the last 18 months that have named their kids middle names Lily or Rose.

So what are peoples opinions on this?
Are people happy to just have it a cute looking name which will be great for a Facebook profile or are people old fashioned and want it to mean something?

Thats fine but what path would you go down?
My own middle name is my dads middle name. My name wouldn't work as a middle name (Nathan) so I would probably either give my dads or someone elses in my family. As for a girl I am not sure. Maybe my wife's late mothers name

My opinion is people can name their own kids whatever the **** they want.

Middle names are ******* pointless. **** 'em.

Unless your name is John Smith or similar, then a middle name is probably handy.

Also, why do Americans go around using all 3 of their names? In Australia it is "Michael Clarke" in the US it is 'Michael Robert Clarke" or 'Michael R Clarke". Odd.

Well take the actor Michael B. Jordan for example. He's going to get confused with the basketball legend if he doesn't include his middle name (or rather the first letter of his middle name). Mostly I think it's an actor thing so they don't get confused with other actors/celebrities/athletes.

Middle names are for criminals, they only come up if you're a fugitive or on trial.

Mine is 'Nicholasq' courtesy of a spelling mistake. not even joking

I find that a lot of girls have the middle name of Rose, Jane, Kate or Louise. By far the most common in my experience. Lily would be getting up there.

My middle name is Arthur. Gives me +5 fanciness.

John Roe - boring name, unremarkable and unlikely to be remembered.

John Septimus Roe - great pioneer of Western Australia, never to be forgotten.

Add an Esq. to the end for added awesomeness.

A lot of my female friends and girls I've "known" over the years have had Maree as a middle name. Along with Jane that's probably the most common in my experience.
