THAT IS IT !!!

i want our midfeild team listed !

who should play where ?

Ruck:

Ruck Rover:

Rover:

Centre:

Wing:

Wing:

???

For Me:
Ruck: Simmo with occasional cameo from Patto (Knobel isn't up to it)
Ruck Rover: Tuck
Rover: Foley or Polo to rotate
Centre: Cogs but depending upon fitness. I'm dying to throw Deledio into the middle to try and get him used to being tagged and breaking games open (Goal against Adelaide sticks in the memory).
Wing: Tivendale will be it much to my absolute disgust however I'm of the opinion that raines should be played there whilst alternating through the centre as I have a feeling he'll be able to find his own pill. Polo also to play here when not in the centre.
Wing 2: With Polak taking CHB and Gaspar/Ray Hall taking the other Key Forward I'm off the mind that Pat Bowden should be given free run on a wing where he can do some serious damage. Chris Hyde is another option to rotate through any of the midfield positions.

Whilst Raines and P. Bowden leave the HBF that leaves Joel on one and depending upon fitness Newman or someone like Hartigan or White (i.e whoever isn't in the back pocket) or JON if he gets his body right.

Ruck- Simmonds with Knobel and Pattison as back up. Simmo seems to thrive on the work.
Tagger- K Johnson. Superb last year in this role. Get used to him not getting as much of it as he used to.
Inside midfielders- Tuck, Coughlan, Foley, Hyde, Krakouer
Outside midfielders- Tivendale, Delidio, Tambling, Howat, White, Oakley- Nicholls, Brown.
Need a long line of players to rotate through the middle in different roles the way the game is played, rather than two or three full timers.
Polo and Meyer are too small (skinny) and not quick enough to spend much time in the middle just yet. Another season and two more pre-seasons in the gym and both should be able to rotate through there in 2008. Polo at half back and Meyer at half forward for the 07 season.
With Polo's height- once he bulks up those skinny arms- he will take the competition by storm I reckon. Just one of those no-nonsense, go and get it, uses it well types that we all look for.

Starting lineup for me is;

Kane Johnson playing down on the Half Back Flank. Polo up on the forward flank. Would both rotate through the middle.

I liked the look of young Cam Howat on the wing. I thought he was skillful and moved well.

IMO would make a great reciever, reads the play well. So agree, wing would be the best position for him.

r: simmonds
rr: tuck
ro: cogs
c: johnson
wing: polo
wing: howat

rotating: deledio, raines, tambling, foley, hyde rotating into the square along with polo and howat.
perhaps: white, JON, meyer

i think that midfield is more realistic..but id love it to be what many posters are suggesting.. even throw in player we pick up in the draft IE. proud/hislop/armitage etc. supposdely hislop is afl ready.

Keep P.Bowden where he playede last year.

Why change a good thing?
Because he is unaccountable and people are coming into the backline who will play his position better. One too many floaters and you will have 20 goals minimum kicked on you every week. Play Patrick on the wing.

Our midfield is begining to load up with talent. Battle for spots is going to start getting tough. Tivendale will play himself out of the line-up eventually, but as I have always said, while he commands a spot he deserves it. Others have to take the spot off him.

Ruck: Simmonds
RR: Tuck
R: Foley
C: Coughlan...if he aint right at the start then Lids and Johnson
Wings: Lids, Tivendale

Simmonds: EASILY our best ruckman, knobel is just a formality until we can get a better second string ruckman because ruckman need to do more then just tap that ball. Pattison of the bench showed some good things toward the end of the year
Tuck: In and under footballer we need in the centre...not the greatest skills but the biggest heart
Foley: I use to hate him... but now its obvious he is our best clearence player so he is a must in there, if only he can get himself set for more game time.
Cogs: Cogs is cogs...wont be able to run games out in the 1st half of the year which will give Lids plenty of oppurtinity in the middle. Alternativly the skipper can play a tagging role
Wings: Tough one. Lids when he aint playing in the centre, gives him a good mix between HB and the centre- could do alot of damage hear but he would be most valuable in the centre. Tivendale WILL get a spot in the side 4 most of next year, hes simply more valuable then any1 else there-although i would love to see howart take over his role.
Players left out: Hyde (bench), Rainsy (HBF - for at least 1 more year), Howart (2nds but would be knocking on the door), Newman (his brass is best suited in the backline), White (see Howart), JON (hasnt shown enough but probs best as a backman), Polo (bench, HBF or HFF, start who can play in most positions around the ball), P.Bowden (HBF, HFF), Browny (best footy upfoward), Bling, Krak, Meyer (foward, could have spells in the middle)

Agreed. Bowden was great in the back half against average opposition but against the top 8 sides he was exposed for his lack of accountability.

He has a huge engine and should be used in more of an Adam Goodes style role.

Ruckman: Simmo
Rover:Foley
Ruck Rover:Tuck
Centre: Deledio
Wing:Howat
Opposite Wing: Polo
(This is for round 1 given that Coughlan wont be back i guess)
Rainesy stays at HBF with Johnno with him
So the backs should look like this
Bowden Thursty Bowden
Rainesy Polak Johnno
not bad at all

really the way the game is played now, nearly every player needs to be able to take a turn in the midfield. realistically there will be 3 or 4 permanent forwards, 3 or 4 permanant backs and the rest just more or less follow the ball. that means 10-12 on ballers at a time. we need more options.
