As long as its not a serious longterm injury, with our depth we should be able to cover him for the first 5 or so games, but hopefully thats a worst case scenario. Thankfully our backline will be much more stable this year then last, with Egan, Scarlett, Skip (Harls), Hunt being in much better shape this year then last, and with Egan and Hunt working on their deficiencies to become better defenders.

Not to mention the form Woji displayed against Richmond. As said i think we can hold but we wont want to get too far into the season without our grizzled veteran ;) .

Krakouer is also on report, charged by umpire Kieron Nicholls with kicking Darren Milburn in the second quarter, in an incident unrelated to his knee injury. Milburn was taken to hospital after suffering a lacerated forehead.

This is from todays papers

It happened right infront of me and i could hear a big crack when he got kicked. Looked very nasty, wouldnt be surprised if their were fractures in the face. All Geelong supporters around me said 'Do you remember Jeff White when King kicked him?' Hopefully not as bad

From the Addy:

Milburn released from hospital
26Feb07

Geelong Football Club defender Darren Milburn has been cleared of any facial fractures and released from hospital following his injury in the Cats' NAB Cup victory over Richmond yesterday.

Milburn recieved a bad cut over his right eyebrow when he was kicked in the head by Richmond's Andrew Krakouer and left the ground with blood streaming from his wound.

Krakouer was reported for the incident.

The Cats said Milburn spent the night in hospital but was released this morning after his wound was stitched by a plastic surgeon.

Scans shows no broken bones, but he is unlikely to travel with his side for their NAB Cup quarter-final against Port Adelaide this weekend.

That's good news. Still reckon they shouldn't have played him...

Extremely happy with that news... He is pivitol to our team.

Flesh wound, shouldn't affect him at all vis-a-vis the season proper. He just wouldn't want to pop his stitches, so he will need a couple of weeks in non-contact activities. It shouldn't have any affect on fitness and he should be tickety-boo for round 1.

Great news, agree with the rest of you, he shouldn't have played.

He'll get a bit of a freshen up and be cherry ripe for NAB grand final. :D

Great news he is an important pt of the team, hopefully they wont play him now until rnd 1. Bomber should be looking at this website, cause we all said for dasher not to play. Wouldnt happen at the gumbies, thats why we rested BB16, until the big one.

why not play him? Match practice is match practice, even for veterans. On that theory are you going to rest him until september, just incase he gets injured in August? Looking from the other percpective, what if the kid playing for him had done a knee. Would you be then saying Dash should of played ahead of the kid?
