Damn honestly the whole backline hasn't looked the same since 'Pauly' broke his hand/wrist and missed the rest of the season ...

This may sound ridiculous, but I almost reckon we could have won tonight if Bower played, I mean Riewoldt killed us (Waite was out of his depth tonight) but I reckon we could have played Pauly on him, and I reckon he has the height and strength to go head to head with Sissy Nick ...
Also his drive and dash off the CHB line was sorely missed tonight, he actually clears the ball pretty good IMHO, and what disturbed me, esp in the 3rd quarter was how we kept turning the ball over especially on the wing ..

Overall if we curtailed Riewoldt's influence tonight, and if we actually managed to kick straight (esp in the first quarter) we would have probably been in with a big chance ...
Sometimes though you have to realise it was always going to be an uphill battle for us, after we lost Pauly, and the fact we lost to Essenscum (a team I consider bottom 4 fodder) twice in one year ..

I would say, if we can get our team fully fit and prepped over summer, I believe we'll play finals in 2009, esp if Pauly Bower can stay fit and continue his rapid improvement ..

Sissy Nick....
wtf does that make Waite then.
Paul would not have played on reiwoldt but i do think we need him in the side.

In hindsight the match committee made a mistake in dropping O'Hailpin, I reckon he might have gone allright on Riewoldt (certainly I don't think he could have done worse then Waite)

Personally if Bower played, they probably would have made an switch earlier on Riewoldt, he carved Waite to shreds I agree, but our backline really strugged with the tall timber of the Stains tonight, not to mention Kosi actually played his one decent game a year tonight.

As it stands now, I'm worried about the damage Buddy and Roughead are going to cause us in rnd 22

One game at a time son.

Footy is a funny game, both could be injured come round 22, both could be suspended, or they could both kick 10

Setanta might have held his own in the one on ones, but Riewoldt would have stitched him up leading up the ground. He's much better suited to Kosi.

A big loss, cant wait until he gets back and starts giving us a bit of run from the backline (even though l sh*t myself half the time he runs with the ball as it looks like he is going to get caught).

Remember last year everyone getting stuck into him saying he would never amount to anything. Yes today I have got stuck into some players eg Russell and Fev however I am miffed at the whole team game last night. Too many people want head to roll and Bower is an example of the need to throw kiddies in now. Austin, Ellard etc. lets see what they have

Reiwoldt getting away from Waite on so many occassions really suprised me honestly! I was sure Waite would go with him contest-for-contest.

We really are missing Pauly B. It will be excellent to get his run from Half Back back into the team, we're just looking... Deflated at the moment.
