the ball is heading for a docker behind... cox can just tap it through... instead, he picks it up on the line... he turns around n finds 2 or 3 dockers... the ball spills... there is a docker goal from the square

the ball is heading towards the dockers goals.... there is a pack of about 3 or 4 eagles... no dockers shepparding.... every chance to punch it through... it goes str8 through

milli kicks the ball in... there is a 5 on 5.... a docker marks

it is AUSKICK stuff, guys!
this is WEAK
we do NOT deserve 2 be in the finals at all
if woosha is satisfied with the efforts of the eagles on the derby, then we need a new coach

there are more things, though:

kicking to the smallest man on the ground(ph matera or kerr) wen its 1-1 sometimes even 2-1.
kicking it high in the air inside 50(it happened once i think) - it looked like they wer playing pack

THE EAGLES WEREN'T EVEN MOTIVATED BY THE FACT THAT IT WAS A DERBY
there were players jogging 2 their opponents
manning up was almost non-existent
omg i cood go on 4 hours!!

if the derby doesnt motivate u enough, how r u supposed to play finals football?

Looked like they were saving themselves for finals, a dangerous policy but Woosha didn't seem all that upset after the game. I noticed when we finally played some man on man in the last quarter, we made them look ordinary. apart from innacuracy. But who knows, Dockers were more intense overall.

I don't think there was any suggestion at all that we weren't trying our guts out. It was a high pressure game, teams make mistakes.

I don't think its fair to sulk about them though, to do so cheapens what was a very good win by Fremantle.

In the final term, we got ourselves in a position where we could have won the game if we kicked accurately. If a few of those 4th quarter set shots had of gone through, all of the skill errors would still have been there, but I'll wager you wouldn't be posting this sort of thing. When it came to the crunch our players did enough to be in with a chance virtually until the final siren. Thats all you can ask for as a supporter.

Freo were just a bit more lucky and a bit more skilled when it counted. They deserved the win, so lets all quit whining, and focus on the Adelaide/Port match-
Power by 3 points midway through the third- COME ON YOU CROW BASTARDS!!!!!!!

The turning point was the StKilda game. We lost a lot of confidence that day and haven't got it back. Unfortunately it is the wrong time of year for a team to lose their confidence.

Apart from aome big-name injuries, I think the forward line has a lot to do with this. It's hard when we don't have a big tall that can at least provide a contest and bring the ball to the ground. It also helps when a tall takes the oppositions key defender and keeps him on his toes.

We're just not up to it this year. We have improved on last year by winning on the road and developing some players like MacDougall and Sampi. back to the drawing board.

I agree with that.

While watching the game in the 1st quarter I picked up on something that would come back to haunt us. With the mention that we only had maybe one fit guy on the bench, I knew we'd have to be up at half and 3/4 time.

Both teams have good stamina, but the way the game was being played was at such a high intensity that it was always going to be physically demanding. For us to have had a chance with less fit players available we had to be ahead earlier.

Fatigue definitely kicked in in the last when we were taking shots on goal. In combination with the pressure of the situation I really think that is why the players missed a lot of easy shots. Once wed thrown our last ditch efforts to try and wrest the game from the Dockers and hadnt capitalised, we were done for.

As a side note, how much of a big game player has Braun been? ALWAYS there in the end when the game is to be decided. Real clutch player.

I think we still have a lot of improvement to go, and that is a good thing.

We do have the ability to be a sensational team, but we're just missing a all round general improvement.

Too saw after playing footy today to think, but will so tomorrow :p

What a stupid comment. Clearly the turning point was the Port game where we sustained so many injuries. Do you know anything about footy?
We were expected to lose away to Port and then played quite well against Hawthorn the following week. St Kilda was the first week that we put in a really poor performance. Injury would have been a contributer, but not the only contributer.

I mentioned confidence as a contributer. Confidence is a by-product of other things, one of which is injury. You can argue it whichever way you like, but it is hard to deny the decrease in confidence. Injuries can be denied because people see it as an excuse. Confidence on the other hand isn't an excuse, it's a reason. Injuries are blaming an outside influence, whilst confidence is an inside influence. I prefer to take responsibility rather than shift it to somewhere else.

You're obviously a little bit upset (and psychotic) about what I said, but you'll have to come up with something better than this to make me look a fool. Maybe if you had conviction in your opinions then you wouldn't be so paranoid and upset.

Couldn't agree more, and the stats bear that out in games where we are on the wrong side of the scoreboard.
Braun is one of our most gutsy players.

Port was clearly the turning point. They hit us hard, both Gardiner and Fletcher haven't been the same.Hawthorn were nothing the week we played them but we lost Embley as well. We were never going to worry St Kilda that day.

Mistakes always look 10 times worse when your club loses. We did make some poor decision making (McIntosh kicking straight to a Docker player, nobody protecting the goal line, etc) - although in the heat of the battle the players don't have as much time to think about these things.

The turning point this season was both St Kilda and Port Adelaide - both losses seemed to drain away our confidence.

Yeah but with the way we played, why didnt the dockers smash us? If they were that GREAT of a team why didnt they?

Because they aren't that great a team.
