Hey guys,

Sorry to start a thread of this nature, however i am being lazy and not researching.

Anyway, a friend of mine is about to set off on an overseas ventures for a few years. He's purchased a laptop and wants mobile internet, so that whereever he goes in the world he can readily access the internet at his perusal.

Are these type of systems out there? I understand Telstra may have something similar, however is it cost effective? Or is it better he wait until he is overseas and in a firm location and sign up there?

Alternatively, can you sign up to a mobile internet company within Australia for a Month?

I understand that companies like "3" have this mobile network available, yet you must sign a 12 or 24 month contract.

Any info would be awesome.

Vodafone does prepaid 3G. Pretty sure it works on European Vodafone 3G networks. Dunno how it goes connecting to other 3G networks though?
