I have to laugh at people who pay a shitload every month to have a mobile, who spend heaps having the latest you beaut phone with video/camera etc.

I bought my first mobile 11 years ago for $90 from Cash Convertors. I had to use Vodaphone when I first got it, but after buying a $30 card, because I didn't use it within 12 months, the bastards cancelled my number. Luckily, the people who provided my internet went into mobile phones, so I switched to them, I don't have to spend a certain amount each month, last year I only clocked up $10 for the year. Plus I keep upgrading my phone for nothing, when my family members buy a new phone, they give me their old ones.

My daughter gave me her old phone today, it's great.

So people, instead of wasting money & throwing phones into land fill, pass them on to someone else.

Had a massive boozey night last night. Ended up dropping my phone into the toilet whilst trying to piss multitask (strangely enough, my initial reaction was to go on a bombing mission, rather than fish it out and try to save it)

I have no intentions of paying shitloads for a new one. If it does the basic jobs, its good enough for me.

Last yr i paid $700 outright for my new phone. 6 months later the keypad shit itself and now i dont use it.

Anyway i just bought myself a new 1 for $120. Might not be as good but does the same job. Never again will i pay over $200 for a new bloody phone.

Paid about $150 for my current one, a Nokia 1100. I think it was worth it myself.

I have a 16 Gig iPhone, insured, on an $79 cap with 21 months to run.

Having read the above posts, you are right, I am a fool. :o You have a right to laugh at me.

Of course work pays for mine, so enjoy your expensive bricks! :p

I paid $300 for mine. It has a great camera and has video. That 3.2 megapixel camera has been a blessing for me this year. It is my last year of highschool and I have got some great shots of me and my mates at school and at other different events. Worth the $300 just in itself. It doesnt take the usual grainy phone camera shots. Pretty nice photos.

I'm with 3 pre-paid. I pay $50, it doubles to $100 for free. I then get 150 free SMS's and 150 free minutes to people on 3. That lasts me thee months and then I recharge again. Pretty good value I rekon.

I got the Razr V9 on a $29 cap. Gives me $150 in general, and a further 200 minutes free 3 to 3.

Battled without a phone for the last few years of my life, so for my 18th figured I'd get the best phone I could find... :D

Used 90 bucks and about 80 minutes free 3 to 3. Pretty amazed considering I've made it so long without a phone...

29 bucks aint bad, with a good memory card it doubles as a pretty handy camera and video recorder. Internet gives ya news, sport all that shiz.

I'll keep this phone for at least 5 years, I'm not the kinda guy who has to rush out and get the newest of everything every few months. My mp3 is a Creative Zen 20GB. Absolute brick, but I love it. Dropped it 20 odd times and it's fine, apart from sometimes pausing when I hit next and random playing all when I hit Menu... :p

I upgraded recently to the same. :thumbsu:

Maybe, but you won't be using it in 5 years time. Don't worry, I thought the same thing when I got my LG U990 2.5 years ago, but within 18 months the thing was crapping itself and the battery had to be charged every night. They don't build these things to last any longer than your contract. :thumbsd:

The most I have spent on a fone is $200, I have friends who get a new fone every few months and brag to me how awesome it is, but what i find is they get all this stuff built in but they never use it.

Going to be in the market for new phone very soon as I am leaving my job, and have to leave my company phone there as well. Given that I am not Gen Y, and don't need my phone to have everything on it, i'm going to go as basic as I can.

Haha true.

The last phone I kinda had, was a Nokia 6220, going strong since Sept. 2004.

I can hope. :D Hopefully by then I'll have a job, and it won't matter if I need to spend a bit on a new phone haha.
