It's early days yet so whilst we're waiting for the real supercoach to open is there anyone interest in a mock-draft whilst we wait?

Figure its a way to pass time and expand our knowledge ready for when we do our real drafts with friends etc.

Only need say 8-10 people (including me) to do a 15 player draft based on SC Gold team structure (3:3:3:1, 5 bench). Can do it here in thread at a lazy/set pace or if we want to simulate the feel of a live draft, over skype or something like that.

Anyone interested?

Draft
P1 Ablett (TigerRoar2012)
P2 Cotchin (noogie)
P3 Pendlebury (TheOz)
P4 Swan (HintT)
P5 Watson (LaffertyDaniel)
P6 Beams (ULB)
P7 Goddard (Frosty85)

TigerRoar2012: Draft pick #1: G. Ablett ;)
Reason: Simply the greatest in the game. Very consistent. Will consistently push out 120+. Lock as captain. With gaz, everyone else will have an inferior captain

Draft pick #2 T Cotchin
Reason : Also a very consistant contributor every week will get you on average of 100 points + a week

Pick #3: Pendlebury
Reason: Obviously a supercoach star and weekly captain option.

Ok I didn't expect people to draft before we got 8 players but I guess this can work. I'll go next, once we get to pick 8, snake back in reverse order. Rinse, repeat. I'll Update OP too.

Pick #4: Swan
Reason: Absolute gun. Was 2nd best SCer last year.

Pick #5: Jobe Watson
Reason: Absolute gun, super consistent, averaged 120+, rarely gets injured.

Pick #6: Dayne Beams
Reason: was a consistently good performer last year and got some massive scores. Wins a lot of the ball, tackles well, kicks goals, and won't necessarily be the number 1 tagged player at Collingwood due to their great midfield depth.

Pick #7: Brendon Goddard
Reason: Clearly the best defender in the game... scoring ceiling far higher than anyone else in that area of the ground

I'd probably go Ablett #1, and then some combo of Swan, Pendlebury, Franklin or Goddard in the next four picks. There are quite a number of midfielders in the 100-120 range below the big three, and Franklin and Goddard are just so much better than the other options in their position that having either of them is a huge advantage. Cox would probably be #6 for the same reason, especially with his DPP this year.

So you have pick 10 - who are u choosing?

Heh 10 I'd go Franklin for exactly those reasons. 11 (assuming snake draft) would be Cox.

I'm surprised you guys are jumping on premium mids who are a dime a dozen and not the most likely rookies.

If this were 2012, I would be picking the likes of Giles, Bugg and Shiel as opposed to Pendles, Murphy and Watson.

If you miss out on a gun rookie, your earning potential is screwed. If you miss out on Pendles, there is always Mitchell, Jack or Boyd who will be more than serviceable.

Although admittedly we don't really know which rookies are likely to play yet.

So are you picking some in this "MOCK" draft or just grazing?

I have just read that perhaps there will be no budget constraints which would mean no need for rookies. I guess until the actual rules are presented it's hard to know who to pick.

There's no salary caps for the draft games. It just doesn't make sense.
