Mooney marking

I get the impression that when Mooney leads and is in front he marks well , however when he has a player breathing down his neck it appears that he is unable to mark.

No doubt marking is not his strength..

Never understood why when going for a chest mark he chooses to stretch his arms right out then bring them in late, often too late so the ball bounces off his chest.. He tries to wrestle opponent too much and sometimes runs under the ball on a lead..

Don't wanna get into Mooney though, thought he was very good tonight..

I agree on both counts. Too many occasions he was forced to mark above his head when he should have been hit in the chest.

No doubt marking is not his strength..

I would have thought marking is his strength. If his kicking is a bit off and marking wasnt his strength, what exactly is he good at?

That's a fairly accurate description of what's been happening, but he does have the ABILITY, just form not quite there most matches this year.

Tonight I thought he was fairly serviceable though and it was one of his better games of the year. Still competed well.

Agree for the most part, but I thought that his game overall showed signs of improvement.

He did play well in the forward line and up the ground.
I get the feeling he has much more to offer.

His arms get "chopped" a lot but because he is Cam Mooney he doesn't get the free kicks for it that other players do.

I noticed this too! He gets nothing from the umpire - probably because after each marking contest he looks straight at the umpire. Last night I think Richards infringed 3-4 times. But then I thought Swans got away with a fair bit of scragging.

I've noticed even Dasher has received a few frees of late and appears to be keeping a little quieter.
