Ah the little rednugget. He flew the flag as good as anyone. Round 20 against Collingwood last year was enough of a reason to keep him IMO.

Did he want too much money?

It will be a very sad day tomorrow watching the nugget against the bombers. Hope he does well as long as we win.:(

This is why I'll be drinking.

On the other hand, they have heffernan. :)
Future captian? my rectum. He'd be the 'grant thomas' of captains.

As much as I love the little bloke, I hope he plays a shocker tomorrow, he can play well any other game except against us. :D

In todays Hun it was reported that both Heff & Slash were pretty bitter at being told to go forth & multiply by EFC at first. Both have settled in well at Melbourne but they have a few scores to settle.

Wheather they do that tomorrow is of course up to them & their teamates.

Should be a cracker of a game.

I thought that was the reason they got rid of him - he played 2 good games in 2 years.

We wasn't our worst player in 2002, but he wasn't one of our best. Just didn't do enough to save his spot.

I think that he had to be let go to avoid further salary cap carnage in the coming years - the club thinking probably was that if we are already copping member/supporter heat for letting three premiership players go, then the incremental heat generated by letting one more player go at the time would be immaterial

I doubt Slash wanted to much money - its just that Essendon probably could not even afford to even make him a reasonable offer
