He was the cream on top, but we don't need him to win most of our games. He's also a 10 year investment and if the club want to be conservative with him, I'm happy with that approach.

Would agree with Clay here.

It'd be great having him on the field, as he has a bright future. But we'll have other guys that can contribute in his place until he's ready to come back.

He definitely helped us win a few games in 2009. But I'd rather him come back at full fitness and confidence via the WAFL, and I reckon that's what Ross will want to do with him this year.

It'll take him a while to build his full confidence back after doing an ACL. For most guys at AFL level, being a few percent off their best is enough to drop them from being a real contributor to being a passenger. Morabito strikes me as a confidence player. I think he'll benefit from a decent run in the WAFL before he dons the purple in anger this year.

Sign of a good coach in any sport is an ability to handle the guys who have the rock star mentality (You could safely say that's most guys in their 20's).

I have no doubt that Lyon will discretely ensure that Mora stays on or near enough to the right path. It may mean we have to wait longer to see him in action again but so be it.

Lyon's ability to keep the rock-stars on the right path is probably debatable. Have no idea how that player management happen at Saints, but from the outside it was poor to very poor. Mind you it seems at odds with what he puts out there as a coach, and what he has already apparently said to Mora.

From what I can tell the Saints players worked extremely hard to achieve what they did under Lyon. Very well disciplined unit, what did you see? I believe the only reason the Saints didn't get over the top is because of the crappy list management at the Saints (draft and rookies).

The off-field shenanigans were exactly that off-field and off-season. Last season was a result of burnout early on, but they came good and made the finals with a big charge.

Pretty much sums up exactly what I was going to say and then some.

There were certainly incidents and as a club they have been in the news over the past decade as much as any team for off field drama. However most of the guys invovled seemed still reach their potential or ability level.

I don't think any coach can stop young hot headed guys from missbehaving, his job is to make sure they moment they step onto that field they are all business. Lyon did that.
