More gushing insincerity from our great coach....

Paul Roos: I didn't have a clue that tomorrow night is going to be my 100th game as coach of the Sydney Swans until the media told me yesterday

http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=282661

Backs up nicely after his "I honestly dont know who kicked it" at the end of the Geelong final, and "I have no say in team selection" re Davis.

Funny how the Roos appologists take every word he utters as gospel.
Much like "Davis is dropped for form reasons.....replaced by Matthews". Still clinging to that one boys ?

You cant seriously believe, that in a stats obsessed world like AFL where every player who gets to 100, 150, or sometimes even 50, there name is plastered on the banner, that no one mentioned to roos he is coming up on a milestone ? Not one player, not one straper, not one CEO, not one of his kids, not Tammy ?

Get a grip.

Either way Roos can't say a thing without the Pro-Davis camp jumping down up and down about it.

I'm not pro-Davis. I'm anti-leadership group who isolate and attack outsiders..... and select themselves despite no form, nor skill.

How many people here knew Roos was coachig his 100th game before the media article came up?

Coaching milestones are rarely the subject of focus (unless you're Sheedy and your team is on a 14-game losing streak). I can see how nobody could have given a stuff if Roos was coaching his 100th or not, especially considering it's not just the season proper games that were counted. By the way, are the NSO games counted as proper games? How about the Regional Challenge games, and the American game?

No we just don't read as much into it as people like you.

Your the one who is clinging to that one, dispite the fact Davis WASN'T replaced by Mathews but by Phillips. If your going to attack the coach over a selection like that and then fans like us who support it, then at least get the like for like replacement RIGHT 9 Days after the fact. As I have said time and time again. Mathews came into the side for Willo and even then Willo's replacement came down to a selection between Mathews and Spriggs the only the midfielders the coaching staff felt were ready/fit for selection.

I'm sure he knew he was up for 100 matches but on the other hand I'm guessing that this milestone doesn't really mean that much to him, hence the comment. Ask yourself what do you want him to say???

Get a grip.

Can say the same for you

In: Matthews, Phillips
Out: Davis, Willo (retired).

Funny thing is I've never seen Willo as a defender too often, so cant see why Matthews would be his replacement. Phillips for Davis isnt much better if you want to look at it that way.

Can you honestly say Matthews deserved selection ?
Did he perform to expectations ?
Did he deserve his spot ?

So you also think it was insincere, and a touch dishonest.

Roos could have said. "Yeah its crept up on me a bit but its been a great time, and I hope to stay for 100 more".
Simple. Honest, and retains his boyish charm.

Well Willo had been playing off half back alot in his last few game this season, a position Mathews normally plays, so I'm guessing it was a like for like swap.

Phillips for Davis isnt much better if you want to look at it that way.

Phillips is a small forward with zip, Davis is a medium forward who can push up the ground. Now they aren't simular players, but they were like for like replacements. Now if I was coach, I would of selected Grundy because of his height being simular to Davis, but Roos did say he selected Phillips because of his pace.

Can you honestly say Matthews deserved selection?

As I said his selection was down to him and Spriggs and to be honest it was a line ball call as to who deserved selection. If we had a full squad to pick from however, there is no way known I would select Mathews in my Best 22 and I have always said that.

Did he perform to expectations ?

What expectations was he given??? I can't answer that unless I have something to match his performance with.

Did he deserve his spot ?

On what I've heard from friend's who saw the two's the week before, hell no.

So you also think it was insincere, and a touch dishonest.

No. I just think he is just playing the milestone down. Nothing more, nothing less.

I watched the comment on the news and I saw as hell didn't see devil horn's start to stick out of his head as he made his comment. To be perfectly honest your making a BIG deal out of nothing just to keep this whole anti-Roos crap going a few more days.

There's a website that claims Paul Roos is actually a reptile alien, much like George W Bush and Tony Blair. They are an alien spieces that have been on earth for over 60 years controlling large and influential governments and big business. The say most of us cant recognise them in their true form as we lack the extra sense(as in vision/touch etc..) to see the reptilian race.

Will everyone just hurry up and get over this Davis/Roos non-story?

I was away and only heard about it a while after it happened. That amount of detachment is more than enough for me to see that this is all really, really stupid. I honestly don't care what Davis said, and I honestly don't care what Roos said about what he said. They're both big boys and they'll sort it out. To think that Davis might be sacked over something so trivial is the product of tired minds and active imaginations. Nothing more.

As for the complaints about Roos sounding 'insincere', 'arrogant', 'hypocritical' or whatever the buzzword is today. Wake up and smell the roses. Roos has NEVER said anything to the media that is in any way meaningful. Believe it or not, this is a good thing. If we know what Roos is thinking you can be sure that the opposition also knows what Roos is thinking. Stop trying to analyse what he says, and think about the only thing that matters... what he does.

I thought it was funny on the broadcast of the game as they were going to a break and they showed footage of Roos' 100 games.......the music in the background was "Smooth Operator"

Didn't he say "I don't know HOW he kicked it"? I'm gonna watch it later.

I have four reptilian pets. Why insult them with the Wallet comparison?

If you could speak reptillian languages, you'd be suprised to find that most reptiles aspire to become Wallets in the afterlife.

You're not all that close to your pets are ya?

Seems no-one here is all that concerned about the Reptillian/Alian connection.
there is no proof. if it is true then Roos'y must have the power to control the swans winning streaks....
