Ok didn’t want to start another thread but thought I needed to separate this from all the CLOKE talk which is making me sick.

Imagine a Pies team next year without

Reid, Ball, Sidebottom, Beams, Wellingham and O'Brien.... well that’s what we still have in front of us...Just wonder where / how we are going to do this?

Yeah before you talk loyalty etc.....there will be one or two that will look at it and say well I am worth more...

Just hope we are that good and save them all.

Bucks stated the other week that Sidey, Wellers and Beams are in negotiations with the club. Reid said his management was also in discussion with the club a few weeks ago.

I expect once Travs deal is done we'll see a somewhat domino effect of players signing close together. The younger guys are more likely to stay for less at this point in their careers because they'd think they'll earn bigger contracts after their next.

Considering how injury riddled Reid's past 12 months have been, clubs would probably be second guessing poaching him from us. Sidey, Beams and Wellingham should be priorites - O'Brien will take what he's offered and Ball is already signed on I believe.

not the most vital cog - toovey, shaw, clarke, maxwell all play his role, and better too. harry being associated with collingwood for his off field activities probably works to his advantage.

I'm not saying we haven't done the prioritizing right, but to say signing any of that second lot of four is just a 'bonus' seems a little obtuse. Sidebottom and Beams are the future of our midfield core, to lose either or both is as much of a loss as Swan or possibly even Thomas imo - at least from a long term standpoint.

Well If not, Reid sidey and beams are the priority.

The main thing about Cloke was him being a "Restricted Free Agent".

For Reid, Sidey, Beams and Obrien and anyone else they can only be picked up by GWS or go into the Draft and end up at Melbourne, GWS and Gold Coast or we would need to get an acceptable trade for them. So they (except for GWS) cannot go where they want to unless we deal.

But I am hoping that the Club next Wednesday will have an interview with Clokey telling us that he was never going to leave.

Then we can tidy up the loose ends

thats the dumbest thing ive heard in a while. you're implying that players from both groups are valued equally money-wise, which isnt the case. its more a case of what would you pick, to lose one from the first group or to lose two from the second group? i dont know about anyone else but i sure as hell would rather lose cloke than lose 2 of reid/sidey/beams/wellers
