I spoke too soon as well. I actually ran the Worm Removal tool this morning because I just wanted to be safe........and it was all good.

A couple of hours later I was away from the computer for a while and came back to find it had restarted itself so I ran the worm removal thing again and sure enough, there it was.

Well, I spoke too soon.

My laptop is actually dual-boot, running Linux RedHat 9 and Windows XP. I generally refuse to use Windoze, for many varied reasons - not the least of which is the susceptibility to viruses - but on occasion I do have need to deal with that buggy, poorly-written, sad excuse for an operating system.

Today I had to transfer some files from the lappy to the network, and it just so happened that the files reside under Windows, so I plug in the network cable and fired up the FTP client.

Within 30 minutes the machine had rebooted. "That's odd", I thought, and logged back in. 30 minutes later, it rebooted again.

I have to hand it to this virus - I am amazed. I do not use Windows shyteware for email or browsing the net. I was only attached to the network for a few minutes. And in that short period of time, this virus has found my IP address and forcibly transferred itself to my machine. I am genuinely impressed.

Not coincidentally, the sysadmins had been advertising patches for this virus earlier today. I downloaded the patch, ran it, ran the antivirus software - twice. To be safe, I found where the virus had installed its .exe file and deleted it, and even hacked the Windows registry file to fix it.

So look out folks, not even us Linux users are safe! :(

Ppl watch out this worm is deadly. Its suppose to be harmless..but its not. I have lost 2 HD are a bit of work.

So watch out. :( :(
