The word 'umpire' will be translated into a different language (one language per game) and the ball and the field will also feature translations (the Sherrin logo and the '50' on the 50m lines).

So for the WB vs Port & the Melbourne vs North game, the 50s should look like this:

五十

I think it's a cool idea. :thumbsu:

Here is 'fifty' in every language:
πενήντα
पचास
五十
năm mươi
cinquanta
cincuenta
خمسون

And 'umpire' (not Mandarin or Arabic, it's on the jersey in the OP):
Διαιτητή - अंपायर - trọng tài - arbitro - árbitro

Should be very interesting..

I'll be going to the Melbourne vs North game and funnily enough I know Mandarin. Is it just the umpires/50m arcs that are different?

Yeah. It would be cool if it had it in English on top of the translation on the umpires.

Western Sydney is a mix of east Asian, west Asian, subcontinental, Arabian and Persian, as well now as African
Yeah, I don't see an incredible amount of Arabic people around here. Mostly Asian and Indonesian. Unless he meant that Essendon is quite Arabian-centric?

Don't think I've ever seen an Arabic Essendon fan. Not sure if St. Mark is racist or just a flog.
Come on now, you could have at least tagged me or quoted my post. There's a massive Arabic population in the northern suburbs, I take it you don't leave your house often?

All I want to know is, how do I swear at the umpires in each of the given languages! :D
some umpire abuse in Spanish
"estás un bastardo" - you're a bastard
"estás un pedazo de mierda" you're a piece of shit
"¿estás ciego?" are you blind?
"no tienes idea qué estás haciendo" You have no idea what you are doing (prounced e-dea not i-dea, ke not que)
"¡hijo de puta!" son of whore! (prounced i-ho not hi-jo)

Don't know the f-word in Spanish and don't know the other languages featured in this round
