I'll reserve judgement until I see our final delistings but if Thomas goes I hope it comes and bites Sheedy on the backside. Even thinking of keeping Murphy ahead of Thomas is ridiculous. We've got Camporeale, possibly keeping Murphy and possibly getting Heffernan. What happened to youth? Anyone would think we are close to a flag!

He's a 23 year old (24 early next season) who isn't in our best 22.
Hardly a suprise axing despite him given one year.

Thomas is hardly 'youth.'

Thomas is very, very stiff. Surprising really, I would've thought he was of more value than a Reynolds, but then again so was Zantuck in my mind.

Murphy has had his time.

LOL asif Sheedy would delist a REYNOLDS or a WATSON even if they were not up to AFL standard.

Shocking decision to delist Thomas. Zantuck and Thomas deserved more. Maybe Henneman should let them mow Sheedy's lawn more often?

We did the right thing delisting Zantuck.

Heff's coming our way

I know he is going from Melbourne. (It may be news already for all I know)

Don't know really if he'll deliver much for us again. CHB is the position slated for the Heff. He wants to come home, never ever wanted to leave either, and this is a great sign for our great club.

It is clear that Sheedy is pulling out all stops to deliver us another tilt like '93. The similarities between then and now is evident.

Champions in their twilight. A raw blend of youth in the mix. (Personally I don't think we're good enough to emulate 93, especially seeing as we can't win centre clearances.)

And FFS, can anyone tell me why today's ruckmen jump so poorly. SUrely you time your leap to get to the ball as soon as possible against your opponent??? WHy do today's ruckmen seem to be tapping the ball at contest as they're about the hit the turf?? Very strange that one.

Curse of the Somerville!
He jumped so early he'd be in the air a day and a half before the bloody game.

His best is still to come. The fact Henneman,Bolton and Murphy are and could be kept before him is what annoyed me.

Essendon website:

Essendon’s first list lodgement will be sent through to the AFL next Monday and both Paul Thomas and Justin Murphy will be included, contrary to reports in today’s Herald-Sun. Essendon is yet to finalise its primary list and will continue to consider its options prior to the second list lodgement due on Friday, November 18.

i'd have to disagree with that mate. However, Thomas should be on the list before Zantuck, Henneman, Bolton...

I'd be very disapointed if Ty Zantuck was ever allowed back into the doors of EFC. And in saying that please remember I was his biggest (only?) fan.

I don't really disagree with the second part. But the fact is about 25 blokes on our list can play Thomas' role and do it as well or better.

I was a fan, and hoped he'd get another year.
Surprised you'd say that Longy (RE: not being allowed back) - rumours of being out having a few drinks (whilst injured) don't usually result in that sort of response, and you seem to be a sensible chap 'ín the know'.

So what gives? Why was Zantuck shown the door when we have other spuds (well documented) getting games/contracts before him?
What did he do?

Feel free to use PM if you wish to provide unsubstantiated or libellous rumours.
;)

We've gone down the path of getting rid of the blokes who don't see football as their first priority. Henno and Bolton for all their faults at least have a crack. Now that should never be seen as good enough to retain a spot on the list. But I just don't think we need those kind of blokes (and you can probably throw Haynes and Cupido into that category as well) around the footy club. Especially when we are going down a rebuilding path.

I was a fan of Zantuck's and Sheedy gave him very limited opportunites. I believe in players being delisted for PLAYING ABILITY ALONE. Not offield behaviour, not because of their surname and I do not believe Essendon is doing that.
Does it not annoy supporters that someones offield behaviour may be the difference between maybe making the finals or not (im not saying that zantuck is god and he is a huge difference to the team however he could give us just that 1 or 2% more in the backline which could be the difference...)

Sheedy gave Zantuck a lot of opportunity. He had a lot of match time before he got injured. Perhaps more than he deserved according to some (who wanted Richards in ahead of him).

Commitment and morale are so important to success that off field behaviour is crucial.

Richards got f**** over by Sheedy. But Teddy also did get 5 years to prove himself. Zantuck half a year until he was relegated to Bendigo. Thomas is the same.
