Just thought i'd share my story of my grand final experience

Got on the train on Friday night bound for Melbourne, train was predominantly Power supporters, our carriage had 3 geelong people on it, light hearted banter all the way (like it should be!) No one slept much in anticipation of the game the following day.

we arrived in melbourne at about 9 am Saturday morning. New crews greeted us (and i've just watched the channel 10 news, our carriage made the news, along with me dressed up in Power gear, feel so dirty!!) Got Subway for breakfast, and then headed to Federation Square. This place was packed all ready, were several things going on, watched the SEN boys for a few minutes, and then a footy trivia thing with Hirdy. Was then time to head off for the big one. A short walk from the square along the Yarra, we were at the G

I cannot implore this enough, AAMI Stadium management, you need to rething your "You can't drink at your seats" policy, this was fantastic!

Saw the entire second half of the Murray Bushrangers - Calder Cannons TAC Cup game (or whatever it's called now) along with the heats of the Grand Final sprint, Goody didn't look interested in it really, appeared to jog the whole way

The Pre Game entertainment i found pretty disappointing, Jet were ordinary, looked pretty obvious that they weren't playing their instruments at all, and were just singing to the backing track (was very obvious when the singing cut out halfway through the first song!) but the balloon thing with the delivery of the cup onto the ground was pretty good.

The game itself was ordinary as we know, Geelong made port look preety stupid, i had some old cow behind me scream at every single decision that didn't go ports way, but i must say i'm a little surprised that the free kick count was as even as it was, cos it didn't appear to be watching the game without the benefit of knowing a free kick count.

Most Geelong supporters were very humble in their win, quite a few thanked us for staying to watch the post game celerbrations (i figure you are spending a shit load of money on going to the thing that you may as well stay and get your moneys worth)

Got back on a train and was back in adelaide at 7:30 this morning.

If you ever get an opportunity to experience a grand final, do not knock it back. For a lot of the day, i was in awe of the whole thing, I feel very lucky to have seen a grand final (albeit a record grand final at that), as i said, if you ever get the opportunity, do it! :thumbsu:

Pics & Vid to come.

You were dressed in Port gear?
unfortunately a condition of me going, went with father in law

EDIT - actually, i should confirm it was just a hat and scarf that were my wife's anyway..
